Manual conversion

Recommended Posts

Hi all, was having a wee look on the lvvta site this morning with regards to cert obligations after a manual conversion.

Gearbox substitution

 The OE gearbox cross-member has not been heated, cut, or welded; and

 the OE gearbox cross-member mounting to the OE body or chassis members is

unchanged; and

 no replacement gearbox cross-member is used; and

 the OE drive-shaft(s) is un-modified; and

 no substantial modifications have occurred to the floor or gearbox tunnel area, other

than provision for gear-shift mechanism.

Assuming I'm not a total retard I take it this tells me on the proviso I use unmodified OEM parts I am not required to have the conversion certified?

Only bit I'm a little uncertain with is "no replacement gearbox cross-member is used". The kit I have coming has the relevant cross member - is that gonna cause me any trouble with the man?

Have been waiting to do this to the 325i for years, last thing I want is to find it's not legal!

Thanks :)

yes is all legal if you use 100% factory parts for that model and sub model.

Marvellous! It's been donated by another 325i coupe, so no worries there.

Really wasn't looking forward to removing the carpets so I could bolt in driveshaft hoops!

Ta muchly :)
