Tidy30 38 Report post Posted October 13, 2013 (edited) Hi all, Been investigating options to lower the E30 cabrio. My friend has the exact same 320i model and has been running the H&R Sport Cup Kit for over 2 years now. Doing a bit of amateur sleuthing on the internet has revealed to me that H&R spec only the Touring Cup Kit for the cabrio models. Some more looking has shown a tunersports listing for the H&R Sport specifically saying they're NOT for the cabrios, as they're for "51 millimeter front strut O.D only". Are the specs just being conservative? I'm relatively confident in his knowledge and believe him when he says they're the Sport kit instead of the Touring, but there does seem to be a bit of information about the Touring being specifically for cabrio models. This discovery also highlights the fact that cabrios (given their weight?) may require different springs and shocks than the standard E30 bretheren. If so, I may need to be a lot more selective when hunting for a good set of lowering springs and shocks! Any knowledgeable members able to chime in on the unique requirements for cabrio models? Thank you, Edited October 13, 2013 by tidyverty
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted October 13, 2013 verts are heavier, so technically should have higher spring rates. that said, all verts have 51mm struts, and therefore non vert 325i springs will actually work. H&R are covering their ass by saying they aren't
Tidy30 38 Report post Posted October 13, 2013 Ok, it makes sense to me, thanks for your response. How are you going with potentially lowering your own cabrio Andy? I did see you recommend H&R springs in another post.
