fhall 3 Report post Posted December 29, 2013 Hey guys, Might be a stupid question but we were putting new leads on the old mans E30 today and on the 6th lead - there is another lead that goes around the wire and feeds off to something else. Old fella thought it was for the tachometer but the tacho didn't stop when we unplugged it. He's an auto sparky and he couldn't work out what it was for either. Does anyone know? Cheers

Etwenty1 45 Report post Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) it runs around the front of the engine to a loom plug under the inlet manifold. The plug connection is held in a bracket under the diagostic socket IIRC. If you have a CPS on the crank pulley follow the lead on that - goes to the almost the same place. No idea what it does - maybe picks up an impulse from that lead and feeds it into the ignition system. Edited December 29, 2013 by etwenty1
