Hard to tell from a pic, but the gasket looks shitty.

Grab a can of brake clean or engine start and squirt the gasket with the motor running. If the idle changes, you have a leak. Just make sure it not a hose clamp near by thats loose or a cracked hose etc brfore you replace a good gasket :)

If that gasket was leaking it wouldn't be a vacuum leak, but a coolant leak, and you would have coolant leaking (well more like squirting).

Grants right, you can't do much with these as the bolts holding the gasket on will snap if you try to tighten or undo them. If you're leaking coolant then the only easy fix is to disconnect the coolant pipes and block them.

Even thuogh you aren't leaking coolant yet, that gasket is looking pretty scum. I'd get it changed in the near future. It is only very cheap to fix (from memory the gasket was $1.60, and it is a good idea to use new bolts).

I had a leak from that gasket in the middle of nowhere last year (in the middle of summer in the hills between Pauanui and Whitianga), was a real pain in the ass having to stop and refill the coolant every 10 minutes.
