E36: (auto) Sport/Winter/ E switch. Cluster peeling

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My e36 has one of those switches that will go into sport, winter but not go back into E modem when pressing down.

Suggest a new switch?

(not mine in picture but reference, (Doesnt have M but a Winter icon)

Also how to pull it out. Is it just brute force upwards or a secret screw or something?

Secondly the cluster in the car on the l p/100km is peeling and stopping the needle from moving. Is this a new cluster job?

Cheers

Edit: Does my car give the cluster how many Km's its done or is it built into the cluster? If built into it can it be changed to be accurate?

Switch pops out easy as, if you don't have fingernails just use a screwdriver to pop the edge. Sounds like you need a new switch.

As for the cluster question- I'm sure you can separate the plastic cover off the front, once you have removed the cluster unit from the dash. Then you can attack whatever it is that's peeling. I believe the cluster carries its own memory so any replacement will have to be reprogrammed.
