Guest Andrew Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Ok spoke to BMW today. From what they tell me the NZ market did not change to the 3.2 EVO until 1998. There are a couple of 1997's here and they were bought in through the states. The first offical EVO's NZ specific cars were bought here in 1998 making the CAB one of the last 3.0.They lie - there is no good reason you would import a LHD car from the states and convert it when there was plenty of RHD factory stock. Have seen more than a few NZ New 96 3.2 m3s. Its more likely any 97/98 M3s were old stockers. I don't know how long they continued to sell "new" m3s - the first E46 M3 would of been out in NZ around 2001. edit: and why wouldn't they bring out the facelift m3 the same time they did with the 318/320/323/328? Golfboy666GTI 68 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Stick with the 3.0. The 3.2 has problems with the VANOS, they also dont seem to make the claimed power when on a rolling road where by a 3.0 does. EVO (uk mag) wanted to build a E36 M3 8 min Ring lapper, they picked a 3.0 as the engine is stronger and can be tuned more. If you want more power from your 3.0 go for a chip, an intake and an exhaust.
