Etwenty1 45 Report post Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) I have swapped the engine in my e34 540i and am now trying to get the auto back in. Problem is the torque converter is not fully seated. It slots in about 10mm and feels like its on splines but it needs to be 20mmm in. Edited January 21, 2015 by etwenty1

B.M.W Ltd 950 Report post Posted January 21, 2015 Spin it gently while pushing. This is done on the bench or floor... not while your trying to fit the gearbox. I hope you didn't fit the torque convertor to the flywheel first.
Etwenty1 45 Report post Posted January 21, 2015 Cheers, No it was fitted to the trans but i think either i didn't seat it properly or it slipped forward while i was moving the trans. I had to tilt it forward to get under the subframe. Does the trans need to be in park or does it not matter?

It doesn't matter, until you need to fit the driveshaft and line up the driveshaft bolts
