ducatiss 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 Can anyone tell me where to get hold of a set of new spark leads for an L-Jet 320i, and the aprox cost. The BMW dealer told me they only sell them as individual parts that have to be made up as the leads shouldnt ever need replacing (which I find difficult to believe) Also anyone bought a dash mat/cover before? Where and How much? All help appreciated.
topless 13 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) The dealer is right in a way, the leads themselves are copper and do not normally fail. The suppression is in the caps, these sometimes give problems but not often. I would suggest testing the leads first with an ohmmeter. End to end the lead should read no more than 8000 ohms. The dist cap and plug cap ends come off with some great difficulty and can be replaced, probably fairly expensive I would guess.. The lead itself, being copper does not normally need replacing. I would suggest getting replacement leads, if you need them from your previous measurement, from a wrecker, but take your multimeter with you and measure them first. (I may have a spare set here somewhere). What is the reason you want to replace them? (corrected spelling, can't have Grant all over me, can I ?? ) Edited November 26, 2005 by topless
ducatiss 1 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 Thanks for that. I didnt realise they were copper leads so, you will be right in saying that they dont need replacing. I was going to replace as part of normal maintenance - nothing more really.
