My exhaust has a hole in it

Recommended Posts

I went for a wof and found i only failed on my exhaust, the main mufler on my 87 525e has a crack in the seem, when my lil brother took it to pitstop they advised it was about $450 for the replacment muffler. RUDE i could almost replace the whole exhaust for $630 they said to fix the whole exhaust.

Does anyone know the WOF rules, Can i just patch the mufler up so it doesnt leak?(probably using kneed it metal bog and exhaust wrap)

Any advice is appreciated, who wants to spend $600odd just before xmas.

Sean

you'll be able to get away with exhaust putty from somewhere like repco etc, If its too big of a crack then you'll have to replace with a new muffler, dont go somewhere like pitstop to get a new exhaust fitted, find a specialised exhaust shop, they usually know more about what they are doing then a chain like pitstop etc, and are usually a hell of a lot cheaper, usually around $300 for a custom single exhaust. Bout $500 for a twin, depending on what mufflers you use, and whether you want chrome tips etc on top of that.
