Forrest 35 Report post Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) Hi all I brought a LSD center for my E36 med case diff which did not have a speedo trigger wheel on it as pictured. Has anyone removed one of these before and knows the best way to do itt? I have a spare open diff which I am taking the trigger wheel off. It seems to be pressed on so I figured heat and a bearing puller type tool is my best Idea so far. Any help? Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted November 7, 2015 Pretty sure i slowly warmed it up with an LPG torch then softly tapped around the circumference with a brass drift and light mallet when I did my pumpkin swap. Didn't worry about heat shielding the bearing on the open centre as it was scrap anyway. Might pay to make a cone out of some old sheet if you plan on keeping it for an emergency
FIAT 131R 223 Report post Posted November 7, 2015 The small amount of warming necessary to remove it shouldn't hurt the diff centre.
Forrest 35 Report post Posted November 8, 2015 Awesome thanks all, blowtorch and a chisel did the trick.
