Removing E36 Diff Speedo Trigger Wheel

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I brought a LSD center for my E36 med case diff which did not have a speedo trigger wheel on it as pictured.

post-3292-0-87908800-1446869601_thumb.jp

Has anyone removed one of these before and knows the best way to do itt? I have a spare open diff which I am taking the trigger wheel off. It seems to be pressed on so I figured heat and a bearing puller type tool is my best Idea so far.

Any help?

Cheers

Nathan

Pretty sure i slowly warmed it up with an LPG torch then softly tapped around the circumference with a brass drift and light mallet when I did my pumpkin swap. Didn't worry about heat shielding the bearing on the open centre as it was scrap anyway. Might pay to make a cone out of some old sheet if you plan on keeping it for an emergency

The small amount of warming necessary to remove it shouldn't hurt the diff centre.
