Removing parcel tray. e36

Can i pls have some help on how to remove the parcel tray on a e36 316i 1998

I need to dynamat it and put new speakers on, i can see the only way is to remove the parcel tray to get both done.

couldnt sleep because of this :D

The headrest wont come out at all :( so parcel tray is unable to move.

any help would be appreciated

you need to lift the tray up a little and pull 4 C clips out from the head rest shafts just under the tray .

you need to lift the tray up a little and pull 4 C clips out from the head rest shafts just under the tray .

all else fails, use a hammer... Hammers fix EVERYTHING :mosh: :mosh:

new speakers should not need to remove the parcel tray, unless you are installing larger than stock size. (please don't be 6x9s)

Peel the speaker grill off and you can access the mounting screws of the speakers.

Brent was right, there's some clips to remove (black arrow in pix) then pull the tray forward (towards front of car)

Iam tring to put the same ones(replace) beacuse the current ones broken, the only way seems the parcel tray, looked around for ages, underneth is way to small. i think these speakers were changed when i bought them beacuse they are kenwood ones. what are the max sizes that fit in the front and the back? any idea?
