atlantiskiwi 73 Report post Posted April 15, 2016 It would seem having checked the lines, slave and master cylinder that I don't have a leak and bleeding the clutch helped but ultimately the clutch peddle is at the bottom of is compression before releasing and it's getting hard to select a gear. The gear box feels solid and absolutely no sign of it popping out or looseness when in gear. New clutch? Is this likely to be the reason it's hard to get into gear? M3AN 4016 Report post Posted April 15, 2016 Braided clutch line required? Probably. Does the ambient or under bonnet temperature make a difference? Note sure if the 3.0 suffers from the problem but the Evo most certainly does. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E36-M3-Z3-M-BRAIDED-CLUTCH-HOSE-UPGRADE-/270472384903 http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.php?t=27831 http://www.ubermpower.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2575 Best mod I did, closely followed by the E46 rack. atlantiskiwi 73 Report post Posted April 16, 2016 Hey mate, yes your braided lines have been on my mind. Maybe I should install them and see what happens. Temp doesn't seem to make a difference. Sent from my SM-N910U using Tapatalk
OP6 27 Report post Posted April 16, 2016 I had a similar problem, when engine was cold, clutch was just ok, but after 30 mins of driving around town it craunched when ever I selected first. Checked that the clutch had no slip by revving to 3000rpm in 3rd and dropping the clutch, result- instant stall, so clutch fine, no fluid leaks. JG BMW suggested, in fact said that would be the slave and they were right. Braided lines would have helped too as Dave said.
atlantiskiwi 73 Report post Posted April 20, 2016 I was speaking to a mechanic today who said I should take the master cylinder off and have it drilled from 19mm out to 21mm. Apparently he did this and it solved the issue. According to him it's because the fly wheel was skimmed but not the casing??? Sounds a little random to me.
