Damo 23 Report post Posted January 29, 2006 (edited) Hi all, Thought I would try and do this as I go, mainly for Andrew and the BMWCC as a writeup of the rebuild. The background: After 20,000 + K's at a mild 380HP, the 3.3 block and head from a 633csi are getting the flick. I managed to throw all the belts, overheat, drop all the oil and lose battery power on an emergency trip into Taupo - BENT the head but once I replaced all the belts it got me back to Auckland!!! Ahh BMW reliability Well the turbo manifold got planed, and this was when i realised how bent the head was. This will get straightened as it is one of the tougher AMG castings. The next pic is of the first of the high HP parts going into the new 3.5 block - these rods have been lightened 10%, balanced and polished. They are the best you can do without going to forged rods. NEXT - the pistons are away being machined down from 9.1:1 to 8:1 so we can push through more PSI! HEAPS more stuff to come, stay tuned! :bounce: Edited January 29, 2006 by Damo

Damo 23 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 Update on the other car - shes been off the road too long now! Head was planed and straightened, turns out the problem of smoking was in the exhaust valve guides - bought new ones from pelican parts and they are going in at the moment. The 3.3 block checked out AOK, so for now she stays a 333i. Pic of block:
Damo 23 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 Also, REIGER GTS bumper arrived along with intercooler cores for bigger intercooler, heres a trial fit:

Damo 23 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 This is going to be one sweet car! how bloody big do you need your intercooler to be lol? wat sort of boost you going to run? Car was running on 12 PSI for about 2 years, a respectable 380 horse at the wheels. Now aiming for 25 PSI on the RevSpec ECU setup and the rebuild. Shouldnt be a problem for it, many other M30 turbos run that all day
Madhatter 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2006 nice looks like its going to be pretty sweet, just one thing though, they are forged rods as standard.
