briteyes 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 While I have allways been a supporter of buying locally, I have rapidly come to the conclusion that it is not financially viable when it comes to my car. E36 325i I rang up my local dealer today and asked for a P&A on the flex coupling. Was told that it was Ex Germany and the price was $284.77. Bugger!!! :rambo: As I already had this part and some others coming from http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/index.htm I was not overly concerned. Flex coupling, Valve cover gasket set and a couple of plastic trim pannels for less than US$150 including $24 freight. Delivery expected in just over a week from order. I am nothing short of astounded at the obvious price gouging that goes on here in Godzone. I will continue to buy OEM but unless absolutely desperate not locally. If one plans your jobs in advance then there is no reason why buying offshore can't save one plenty of $$$$$$$$.

Dnz 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 yeah i have heaps of bits from overseas - exchange rate is helping too! Bimmerforums.com is a good way to find some vendors - Ive used understeer.com and bimmerworld.com quite a lot for suspension/control arms/lights etc.
Viking 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 This is true, buying parts locally for the most part is really not a good move. I was quoted 4 shocks and springs for my E34, which in total worked out cheaper than the price of just two shocks of the same sort locally.
