Velocitrobe 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2017 Hello. I'm Dave. I have an E30 318 IS which is used for road rallying. I would really appreciate some advice: We fitted an E36 318 IS gearbox along with a 325 lightened flywheel, and 325 starter motor a year or so ago. The car has not been started since. Unfortunately I bought the starter a few years ago. It will not mesh with the ring gear. I suspect it's the wrong one. I cannot find the original 318 IS starter to check. I looked on the net and saw that the 325 starter has 9 teeth. I checked the starter we fitted and it has 9 teeth. Would someone tell me the difference between the original starter and a 325 one please? Someone suggested that they all have 9 teeth but with different pitches on the teeth. Many thanks Dave
Olaf 3318 Report post Posted July 8, 2017 Hi Dave, and welcome to Bimmersport! I can't help you with the tech question, though I'm sure there'll be someone along soon who has the answer. I'm sure your e30'll be the fastest in the valley! cheers Olaf
