talia.bmw 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2017 Hi there. I have a 2002 318i E46. I've been having a problem lately where my A/C will keep running even when the car is turned off, and the key is out of the ignition. Pretty much, every second day, my battery will be dead and the car won't start. As a temporary measure I have been hooking and unhooking the battery each time I drive & park it. This is getting to be a pain, so I need to get it fixed. I've had the ignition switched replaced but that didn't solve the issue. By googling, I've guessed I might need to replace the final stage unit/blower motor resistor. I will admit, I have very, VERY limited knowledge about cars, and know even less about fixing them. I.e, I know nothing at all. Can anyone please suggest what might be wrong? Also, if anyone could recommend a mechanic/auto electrician in Wellington might be able to help me out? Thanks in advance. zero 1162 Report post Posted July 9, 2017 Very good chance its the final stage register - sometimes people call it the hedgehog. Make sure you replace with a genuine one, as the cheaper ones are known to not last long before failing.
