rolls_on_19 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Went for a warrant the other day. Failed because i supposedly need a cert to baseball bat roll my guards and because my stop lights have apparently been altered so only the inside ones work. The lights are standard and after removing the lights i found they're unaltered. I've got electrical training so i know what i'm looking at. Does anybodies E36 have each pair of stop lights on each side light up? That means a total of 4 lights, not including high stop. Mine only light up the inside one on each side. Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 13, 2006 2 are lit when your front lights are on, and all four light up when you hit the brakes. Otherwise only 2 plus high stop light.
my_e36 43 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 In a coupe, there's 7 bulbs that take care of the brake light (3 on each side plus high stop) On each side... 2 out most one comes on when you turn on the headlights 1 inner one (closest to rego-plate) only comes on when you press the brake If you use rear fog (not a WOF requirement, but anyway)... out most one is brighter than the middle one of the three (depends on import from where or NZ new, most have rear fog on one side, rarely rear fog are on both left and right) ----------------------------------------- Ask them if they failed you based on the LED-cluster lighting rule (75% of all bulbs of the same colour must be working), because they are not LED. Road code only require at least 1 bulb on each side (left and right) plus high stop to be working.
bravo 35 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 Take a photo of your car with brakes applied. Sounds like they are giving you the run-around. I just refreshed my knowledge of the stop-lamp requirements and it doesn't appear to say you have to have all lights working just one plus high-stop as my_e36 had said
