Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 (edited) I'm planning on painting one of my guitars to match my car and asked photoshoppers on one of the guitar sites I frequent to come up with ideas. This is the best, imo, so far. Anyone else seen a BMW themed guitar? I'd appreciate any links - thanks. BTW - that wavy line wouldn't be there, if I chose this idea. *RJ* 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 I've been thinking about painting one of my guiatrs - have 2 accoustics and an electric bass. What sort of paint would you use? Standard then coat it some think layers of varnish??? The tobacco sunburst colour is getting a bit boring considering all 3 of my guitars are similar colourways. Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Yes, I've painted many guitars with std auto paint (which was what Fender used in the beginning) and gloss or satin (dep on finish I wanted) clear coats until I had the finish the way I wanted it. This one's gonna have to be airbrushed for the BMW logo, though. Sunburst was the reason I first started repainting guitars - just got too boring. Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 15, 2006 You ruin any value they might have as collectable pieces later in life... Its like painting a Sport Evo yellow, for example Although I only know of the world of collecting acoustic quitars...

Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 You ruin any value they might have as collectable pieces later in life Quite correct, but I'm a muso, not a collector. All of my instruments are working pieces. Getting the money for them will be my kid's problem after I die! mmmm M badge Alpina.... I thought ALL sport EVOs were already yellow??? Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Playing an instrument doesn't affect its value at all... its condition does.

BMW POWER 2 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Badass. Seriously. Do it. When I get some drums, my bass skin is going to be BMW. How fitting. So how long have you played guitar? Can you play any Rammstein Hear of Richard Z. Kruspe or Paul Landers?
Jacobfie525 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 That Purple Actually Looks Pretty Sweet On The P-Bass. I've Got A Fender Strat That Could Look Alright In A Similar Shade To My Car.. Just Thinking About It Haha. Wouldn't Touch My Gibson Though.. Even If It Was BMW Paint..
Jammasterjames 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Might de-value your Les Paul...... but then again, you're never gonna part with your Les Paul until you die are you..........
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 So how long have you played guitar? Can you play any Rammstein tongue.gif Hear of Richard Z. Kruspe or Paul Landers? LOL- I'm 57 yo! Rammstein et al - not my scene. I've been playing in bands since 1961. I've bought and sold enough guitars to fill a garage - talk about wasting money - I decided a few years back to never sell any more gear - there's a couple of them going to be buried with me ... bravo 35 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 It's your guitar - do what you want, although I would look strangely at any musician I went tosee who had a car logo-themed guitar. Emma - there is more than one band in the world and many of them better than Rammenstein - widen your aural experience.

LOL - its hardly different, people all over the world paint their guitars to mirror their interests. Its all about expressing one's personality. Scroll through here: custom paint and here: more weird ones: Jacksons
