ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 (edited) I have finally decided to turn my pre f/l320i into a project car, first stage is the full on strip and paint. Stripping took around 5 hours + other little trim bits that needed removing as i got further into the repairs. There were a few bits of rust here and there, expected places, rear tail lights, rear left guard, windscreen seals etc Primer on sills indicates where the sills were starting to rust but i managed to catch it early New wheels have replaced the chromes and some other new bits will be shown later in the build.... Things i will be doing over the next few months: Aesthetic: PPG 'Cherry Black,' with extra gold and Candy Red pearl M-Tec 1 Full Spoiler Kit Satin Black Kidney Grill and Light Surrounds Eyelids Tints Angel eyes Smoked Fogs Smoked crystal indicators Aftermarket Rear lights (Half red half Clear, smoked) Replacing Front and rear window chrome Alarm: 5 Star Respected Brand ICE: Sony MP3 CD 52x4 Head unit Sony 5.5" Components, Tweeters, Crossovers Alpine V12 650rms Monoblock Rockford Fosgate P3 15" Subwoofer in custom enclosure Interior: Racepro Arrow 2 Bucket Seats Customised Rear Seat with Cup holders and Subwoofer porting. ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 (edited) Before stripping exterior. Note wheels, i dont know whether to: leave them as is, get them fully polished, or polish the lip more and powdercoat/paint the centre black. What ya'll think? Guest Spargo Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Its going to be mean. Can't say I really like the new rims, don't look chunky enough for an E30. Colour is going to be cool also.
ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 ... i will post some more pics up of primer and paint stages and keep you all updated as to when the mods start happening and putting it back together. You are probably wondering why i am doing all this to a 320i but an engine transplant will be coming later in the year/early next year. I want to get the aesthetic and ICE bits sorted first I welcome comments, good/bad feedback, what you generally think :mosh:
E30stz 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 (edited) have always thought when seeing your car the suspensions a little uneven.. but still looks cool seeing it around town. You dont want them even I just mean a little more drop on the front could do wonders. Edited April 10, 2006 by E30stz
ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 (edited) I just mean a little more drop on the front could do wonders.I know exactly what you mean: am looking at options to upgrade suspension...Want to do Ireland Engineering Adjustable Front and Rear Toe Camber, and maybe height adjustable fronts... Just see what happens, as i said Aesthetics first Edited April 10, 2006 by sakdbma
bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Sounds like a nice plan, I am looking forward to seeing the end result. Oh and for the wheels, powdercoat them with a polished lip.

ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Depends what you mean by 'back on the road,' its probably gunna be out and about when i get my licence back 1.5 months, but i dont really want to take it out to much until summer... :bounce:
topless 13 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 (edited) Hey Chris, that's not naked.... this is !! Anyway, I think polished lip with black centres would really look good. :thumb: btw, this was going to be an e30 series race car but with the regs as they stand, I have discarded that option and now it is getting the full lightening treatment, ie NO etra bits like trim, carpet, sound deadening, M2.5 motor (for now, 2.7, (possibly turboed), in the build), box and LSD, non power assisted steering etc. Going to see how light and quick I can make this sucker... full pics later corrected spelling...woops!!! BMW POWER 2 Report post Posted April 26, 2006 Mint. Can't wait for final results, something to be anticipated. Wheels look great IMO. Keep us updated - keen to see the progress. -Ems
DCEIVN 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2006 love it.... its gonna look phat. As for the rims, powder coated centres and polished rim. don't make the centre black leave them as is or a lighter colour than the body. IMO dark rims need a light coloured paint and vice versa (as youre doing) cant wait to see the colour!!!
