If its an auto, you have to ask why bother. If you have an auto, changing to manual is probably the most practical starting point, then you will be able to utilise the performance you have and then build on it.

For a start, you could look at basic mods:

K&N airfilter

A decent tune up with new spark plugs and leads

that would hopefully increase the efficency of your car, then you probably want to look at getting more out in terms of power - then you start looking at things like

Custom Headers

Full exhaust setup's

Short shifter would help

you can also look into v-tec decals, or HKS - heard they put out a further 10+ horsepower each.

Chips are debateable.. you can spend hundreds getting one over here only to be disappointed. Most are tuned for the overseas market.

There are also things that compliment good performance, such as decent tires and good brakes.

bolt a 2.8 in. Or do some mad conversion. Dont waste your time on modifying that engine.

Finally some useful advise..

Why are they such a crap engine everyone? They are 2.5 - same as the 325 ever got. The only thing restricting them is thier air intake.

You need to convert back to the old OBD1 type of engine mangement (many ways of doing this - and lots of info out there) Get yourself 2.5 ltr manifold/air intake/TB - and like brent says - you get power.

Same deal with the 2.8.
