noisy cam 325i 1987

I'm fairly sure you're describing tappet noise - get them adjusted. A noisy tappet is generally healthy than a bloody tight one that is munching up the cam lobes.

cam change is pretty hard... i THINK the head needs to come off..actually very sure it does.

so thats at least $300 for a headgasket set and new bolts...not sure how much the cam is but go new, something like shrick..have not heard anything good about re grinds

TBH get the valves adjusted professionally...so easy to f**k up and it just wears the cam out and is not nice to drive...shouldnt cost much as its a very quick job

oh nice one so it could just be a tappet out of adjustment.

i take it they need shimming rather than the old way of screwdriver spanner and a feeler guage

ive had alot of people telling me that cams weare out heaps on the bmws or could this just be a case of needing adjustments
