Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Why not just buy this, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.as...9569&key=197639 already in the country, and half the price. Plus you don't have to live in Aus for 90 days!
Guest Spargo Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Buy neither, they're both US spec.
M3 Cab 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 The car on trademe is half the price because it can't be registered. It would need to be changed to RH drive or just used as a track slag. Aussie car looks ok and the 90 day rule applies.
Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Wouldn't the aussie one need to be changed to RHD as well, it's not 20 years old yet?
Juzzie Wuzzie 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 You can buy my street legal m3 for $50k if you like (no offers).
M3 Cab 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 If the car is owned overseas for a period of 90 days or more you can import it without changing it to RH drive.
Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Does that mean you can export the NZ M3 to Aus for 3 mths, and re-import it, and get it registered and vinned?
Bullitt 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 Does that mean you can export the NZ M3 to Aus for 3 mths, and re-import it, and get it registered and vinned? Yes but not this year. its got to be 20 years old when its imported (not when its registered) so youll have to wait till sometime next year at the earliest

Not a bad idea and for only 16k
bravo 35 Report post Posted June 9, 2006 16k plus export costs to aussie and whatever tariffs they have (don't forget they have huge ones compared to nz which is why jap cars are erlatively exp over there) and then live in aussie for 90 days (car would have to prob be registered over there too) then import back into nz - you'd easily double the cost of the car if not more.
