TronSpec 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 I have a 89 face lift e30 with a f..cked left rack end. I had pulled my powersteering pump and belt off and had being running the power rack as a manual with the hydralic lines plumbed back into it self for last 4mths. It's warrent time and cause I like the feeling of non power assit and my rack ends had it I am looking into buying a manual rack off a non face lift model e30. has anybody had any experience with this? can it be done? Thanks Mrhamwallet
gmccormack 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 A pre FL rack will fit as long as you use the steering shaft for that rack as well. Why do you want to use a pre FL rack anyway? They are all 19 or more years old now. I would try and get a manual rack from the newest car I could find if I were you. Try and get one from a 90-91

I was under the impression that the small shaft on the couplings were what changed between the power and non-power steer, or is that not the case?
