P0444 Evap Purge Control Valve Circuit Open code.

Hi my e90 BMW threw a fault code P0444 - This is the Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Open code. The car seems to run an drive fine. How essential is it that this is fixed immediately? 
I understand that the Evap Cannister purge valve needs replacing ?

It looks like this has sorted itself out, and the valve closed itself. No check engine light any more - Yay! 

 

**Edit** - I spoke too soon, the light is back on now.
