1995 e36 328i crank no start

Recommended Posts

So the issue began the fateful day of purchase, engine would kinda jump/stall randomly when driving and had to be pretty perfect on take off or it does the same. Started popping mad on downshift n such and lost power then rev limiter cut to 4K limped it to my car park and now she hasn’t started since just crank and no start apart from the odd Occassion it would sound like it was bout to start for a sec then millisecond later it would be off again, so far I I have replaced crank position sensor then we tried starting her on starter fluid and she went for about 3 secs then died again so changed fuelpump, relay and filter and no luck. What to try next??? Very lost and quite salty as this was the very first drive of owning the thing and I am praying it wasn’t her last. image.gif.243b18d0d86ad15015bc989b239fbb17.gif (comp sounds alg on crank so don’t think it’s that but never know) p/s have put my ear to pump and heard it whirling on crank so think that’s fine, any tips for next steps lol.

So it has spark and fuel pressure? What sort of crankshaft sensor did you use?,  some aftermarket ones have issues. Check camshaft and crankshaft sensor wiring at the plug connector as it can loose its insulation. You can also test both sensors with a multimeter.

Thank you for the reply mate. Pretty sure she has spark and fuel pressure but pulling the plugs n getting a mate to test fuel pressure for me on Wednesday so will have an update then. Otherwise I used the valeo cps. I will see if I can test those on Wednesday also.

Had another look at my relays and noticed that the main/dme relay was pretty shot, swapped for my horn but still no luck, has me wondering if it is potentially a dme issue
