westy 614 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 (edited) OK, so as I understand it...to swap from an m52 dualmass flywheel to an m20 singlemass flywheel, all I need to do is use the m20 325i, 228mm clutch assembly as the e30 throwout bearing allows for the difference in flywheel heights? As advised by bm warehouse. Is this correct?Any further comments? This would be rather pleasing as the 328i 240mm clutch kit is $791.00 +gst Edited June 19, 2006 by DirtySix
westy 614 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 One other thing. Is a gaul plate(big washer with eight holes ) nessasary with a m20 flywheel?
Jonty m50e30 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 Gidday I used an m20 flywheel with the m50 had it lightened heaps also, no issues fitting, with e30 trans though. I had a standard 325 clutch but the pressure plate was a bit tired and it slipped like crazy so I had it rebuilt stronger with a racing clutch cost me more than the 328I you speak of so thats not a bad price. I left that gaul plate on it helps withthe spacing of the flywheel bolts not that they would foul anything but hey its there for a reason I figure.
