Spark Plug Leads???!!!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone no where to get some spark plug leads for a 94 318IS M42 engine, ive been into BNT they orderd 3 different sets which were all to short, then told me that they dont know what to do, repco can get them in for 500(specialised ones) i dont want to be going through the bmw dealer as theyll charge me more then i really want to spend. any help would be greatly appreciatred,

im not even to sure its my spark plug leads which is why i dont want to spend to much, she misses occasionally, i cant see any visible cracks on the leads ive changed the plugs, fixed a hole in the airflow meter pipe, cleaned out the ICV, run some injenction cleaner through, so this is next.

anyone no how to test the spark plug leads?

Hi There,

Check resistance with an ohm meter - should be no more than about 15k ohms for each lead.

Hard to check insulation though but look for visable cracking/trackiing particually on plastic ends.

If you do need replacements - check pricing with BMW - sometimes they can surprise you - either way.

Cheers Grant

I'm no expert but clean you distributor rotor contacts if you can and ensure the spark plugs have the right gap. Best to check everything you can before resorting to expensive measures.
