speakeasy 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 hey does any one have a 5 speed gear knob for my 89? gus reckons there pretty cheap from BMW, but i know ill end walking out of there with some super expensive illuminated msport or something. actually that would be quite cool. anyway i digress. my gear knob has a crack at the base and slips off randomly, esp when your trying to look cool and drive fast... what a dick... seriously tho, it does come off if your shifting with a bit of force though and it sucks ass. anyone got a free or super cheap good nick gear knob? one that stays on the stick? Guest Andrew Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I think an e36 shift knob is only 30 bucks from the dealer - look way better than the e30 ones and stay on btw an illuminated ///M knob will set you back like $400 hah.. You can make your own for like $7 like I did on Dave's car.

Guest Speedye30 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Hah! Guess what? My car came with one of those m tech illuminated gear knobs! The leather was all worn (damn rings) so I went to the dealer to get another. Waltz up to the parts desk. Yes i'd like a new one of these please. "Sure that'll be ex-germany three hundrend and...." "What the fcuk? You must be high or something!" And that was the end of illuminated gear knobs. Now i've got an e36 leather, cost bout 60 bucks (i think) I still have the old one at home, do you think it could be sucessfully recovered or sumthing? Useless info: my car came with a factory plug connector for this very item... strange...
