New plate Euro plates

Who has the hookup? I want to upgrade my euro plate to the new font and the ultra bling blacked out style, but I don't want to pay 250 to do it.

Anyone know anyone that might know anything?

GT grafix can do anything and cost same as german plates. Downside is the plates are perspex not metal so no raised numbers. Reflective though, so look legal unless up really close.

I'm liking the fact that plates has released so many new designs - it is going to make it impossible for them to prosecture you for euro plates not produced by them as long as they look similar as the law prescribes design, not source of manufacturer (as much as they like to argue otherwise).

Love the new bay of Plenty plate - looks like highway patrol colours.

Yea i am wanting to get euro plate on my car. At the moment i just have normal run of the mill plates, i just want to upgrade to a euro plate. What is the best way of doing this? And how much will it cost? Thanks

With shipping cost me approx. $100 for a pair. Both of my bimmers have germanplates produced plates.

Are they legal? Can you use them and pass a warrent etc? Also they look a bit budget in the photo. Is it just the photo, or are they not quite as good as real ones? Thanks

I suggest you do a search mate...this topic gets discussed at least four or fives times a year.

The quick answer is no they are not technically legal, but there is no 'law' regarding plates only a white paper that says they have to be the same front and back, the same font and readable for 'x'metres for your warrant.

If a police officer decides to pull you over though I dont know how you will get on.

Sam - if you're trying to get a discount from someone at plates, then you're probably out of luck. There was someone on here who had a couple of cheap referrals, but they have long since expired. Reach into those pockets of yours and pull out your wallet, blow away the moths and dust and pay for them.

So i got my europlates this morning, bastard drill is broken so im going to have to sit one on the front dash until monday , I just used some hardout double sided tape to fit one plate to the back, it looks sweet as, but it'll be a mission on the front, euro plates are long as hell and the standard plate holder is small as sh*t, any ideas fellas?

Depending on your car you can get the center price of the bumper to have a euro one instead of the kiwi one.

A work colleague has just failed a WOF 'cos of his plates. I didn't think they were a warrantable item?

Anyway, the bloke at the wof station says that NZ plates must be 6 characters max and he's got a space between his numbers. This space is regarded as a character, so he has 7 characters - so his plates are illegal.

Wot a crock of sh*t, imo!

If you get a personal plate and you have a '1' or an 'I' then they allow you to insert spaces to make the plate more readable because these letters take much less room on the plate !

That's what I figured and what I told him.

My son failed a wof at the same wof station for a rust hole in the bottom of the door. We got a mate to repair it and when he went back the same bloke wouldn't accept it. So we waited until the following day and got a different bloke who couldn't see why it needed repair in the first place and passed it straight away.

Wof inspectors really can be jumped-up little hitlers!!

Personally I like the space between the letters and numbers on a Euro plate. It just looks more 'right'.
