E30_318i 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2004 With the old man. Base model XT, with 7km on the clock. It didn't even have plates on it. Interior is nice, however it would turn to sh*t will a couple of hundred thousand kays put on it. Engine is strong but gets rough past 4500, but it sounds alright, f**king big too. Rides real nice and soaks up the bumps unlike his Maxima, and the E30 is no comparison (18 years old). Steering well weighted too, and direct.

E30_318i 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2004 Pulling onto the motorway using tiptronic is quite cool, but it needs an extra ratio as its pick up is as slow as sh*t in second. Thats nearly 90 in 1st

Manual LS1 would be alright. The only V8 Holden I've driven is an auto 2002 SS ute which was down the motorway, and it wasn't bad. Like the falcon 2nd gear is far too tall, tops out at something around 140kmh however it least it had the guts to get there quoite quickly in comparison. Dunno what its like in the corners, but its a ute, and utes are f**king awesome Ford have really raised the bar with the BA, good to see them finally bringing a good product at that low cost which can match the Euros, while the new Accord and Maxima have seemed to follow, Holden too later in the year. Toyota on the other hand...
wedge 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2004 Lol, they are rough at high revs, but the fact it wasn't even remotely broken in may have something to do with it. Eek, hate to think of the pistons shrieking up and down the bores... f**ks the engine reliability in the long run if you run them remotely hard at less than 1500odd km as well. Ha, so dont buy that one!

Ha, so dont buy that one! Dunno about that. We took out a new Maxima a few months ago with around 200km on the clock and it was as smooth as silk at red line. That bloody salesman was thrashing the arse off it too. Never gunna buy a demo from that Nissan dealership, or as Andrew said, anywhere.
