Court grabs Ferrari

Recommended Posts

Beware!!

The cops are starting to grow some balls. At last!

Less than $2500 in unpaid traffic fines could cost a man his Ferrari, worth up to a quarter of a million dollars.

Pedestrians smiled wryly and traffic waited patiently as a 1999 Ferrari 575 Maranello was confiscated outside Palmerston North District Court yesterday.

The car was towed away after a warrant to seize was issued by the court, district collections manager Martyn Boyce said.

If $2490 in outstanding fines is not paid within seven days, the car will be sold, Mr Boyce said.

Elite Wholesale director Matthew McDowall said the car is worth between $200,000 and $250,000.

The Ferrari is registered to a Paraparaumu man who could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Mr Boyce said the outstanding fines were for traffic offences.

"If someone has fines that are overdue and not under arrangement (to be paid), we can issue a warrant to confiscate property."

575 they're so last century. You should have seen the 599 at Taupo. I hope to have the film developed tomorrow.

Andy (Booth) had to slum it in the Maser Gransport.

Best Ferraris are the ones you can't buy:

166 Inter

275 GTC (12 made, aluminium body panels from Scaglietti)

250 GT SWB Berlinetta

250 GTO

275 GTB/C Cliente Competizione (11 made, basically a later model 250 GTO)

500 Superfast

288 GTO

288 Evoluzione

F40 LM

F40 LM GTE (6 made ever, one batch of 3 Evo 1's and one of Evo 2's)

F50 (Evo Mag rated this the best ferrari ever)

F50 GT (3 made ever)

550 Barchetta

And anything built by Michelotto

I'm always interested in the 'best' discussions, since I believe there is no such thing.

What do you guys who claim model xxxx is the best base your claim on?

I never offered my opinion on which was "best". However, with Ferrari it would have to be currently the 599GTB 0.05sec slower to 100kph than the Enzo and with civility to match.

However, this does not make it the greatest Ferrari of all time. That is entirely down to opinion.

Like trying to name the best driver. Up until last year, Michael Schumacher, whether you like him or not.

That is entirely down to opinion.

100% agree.

Thus there can never be a universal 'best' anything.

For my 'best', speed and acceleration don't even rate in the top 10.

For others, they are #1 and #2.

Early 250 Testarossa

250 GTO

206 SP

Note they are competotion homologation specials,Why?

Enzo Ferrari's main passion was racing [he built road cars to help finance his racing],

You have to admire a Man who during the days of petrol rationing builds a front engined V12 F1 car then puts a sports car body on it [and paints it red]

I'd also add to the list :

250 'california' spyder

365 GTB4 'daytona'

The sound of six downdraft webers sucking air, and all those tappets going "snickety snick" [who needs a sound system]

Hey JazzBass you're right about 'no such thing' with 'best car' questions!

What is a Classic?

Any Car that raises emotional interests of enthusiasts [my opinion]

I've seen the humble old VW Kombi slowly become a classic [nostalgia for surfy's etc]

I've yet to meet an enthusiast of the Austin Allegro [if I do,give me permission to throttle them Haha!]

The 'best car' boils down to a good old saying...

"beauty in the eye of the beholder"

after all, my wife obviously saw someting in this ugly old b*stard and married me and has stuck with me for 27 years now..

and can I share in the throttling, Kerry (if you find that Allegro-loving person..) ??? :D

Will
