Simon O'Reilly 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Can anyone suggest a type of rear muffler or extension that will give my 320I (6 cylinder) engine a nice sound?
drifty325i 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 IMO 2l m50s sound like crap with most mufflers around these days. Can make them sound very tinny.
antony 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 (edited) i think you'l find it hard to get any 'nice sound' with a tip. my suggestion is take out the cat converter and replace it with a coby? my mate once had a coby at the end of his exhaust mated to just and exaust tip, it was an 1600 auto familia, and the best sounding jap car ive heard lol. E: by 'coby' i mean the sausage looking things. Edited February 5, 2007 by antony
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 I agree with the cat removal and replacing with a Coby. I did that on my 318 and my 325 and it made for a much nicer exhaust note. On my 528 I enjoy it being whisper quiet, so I'm staying stock.
OLLIE 26 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 remove the cat converter .... put in a 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 inch from the cat back with a silencer (coby) halfway between the engine and the muffler. IMO the sound will all depend on what sort of silencer you get. Pitstop = bad x 5 Als Mufflers = Good
