Okay, before i blacked my grills out i thought it was too common and to buy a new black set of grills for around $100 was a bit too much. But as already recommended up there, I saw plastidip, was pretty amazed at how it can peel off later if I didn't like it So i went with it, got a can of black plastidip from Repco for $28. Spend about 2 to 3 hours in my garage and it looks amazing. I was pretty familiar with spray cans so i was able to achieve a perfect job on the grills, i put them back on and it really gives it the slick look. I recommend you spending around 30 dollars and a few hours of your time, and if you don't like it or get sick of it, you can just peel it off. Also, i disagree with "first stone to hit will leave horrible silver marks and looks cheap" It doesn't look cheap at all, it has a nice matte finish and its extremely durable. My mates have had plastidip on their grills for over a year and not a single chip. Just thought i might write this, good way to change the look of your car in a subtle way, and definitely cheaper than buying new set of grills.

wow that color looks really nice. I was considering doing them to my style 48s. But I'm not too sure yet haha. Will be happy to check out how it turns out fitted on your car

Hi, recently I have been looking at changing the look of my rims on my E46 320i. I wanted a new set of rims and since I'm only a student with a low budget, my only options were BBS replicas. I'm not a fan of replicas, so I decided to get my style 48s powder coated. Now here is what I wanted your opinions. I know that the decision is all up to me at the end of the day, but just wanted to know your opinions. What color powder coated rims would best match/fit the car and bring it out a little more, because at the moment its pretty boring. Silver on Silver. And if you know any good powder coaters in Tauranga let me know

Thanks It seems like they are style 48s. I'm considering getting them powder coated. I do like it lowered but i just want it to have 100mm clearance so i don't need a cert. And the springs i have go lower than 100mm.. hmm

Hi, I have recently purchased this E46 320i. It came with these rims which I was told were BMW 5 series rims. Now I am not sure where it actually came from, so I was wondering if anyone knew where they are actually from or what they are ? I am thinking of getting them painted (not black !) or selling them and getting new ones. Also the car is now sitting on stock springs. In the photo they are sitting on compressed springs. They didn't have 100mm clearance so i wanted it with stock springs fitted, I have the lowering springs in the garage, and i was wondering if its possible for a spring to be de-compressed ?? I'd like to lower it but dont want it to be under 100mm clearance. Thanks guys !!

Wow those rims are pretty sick. I got a standard silver E46 too and i don't want black rims. Those rims actually catch my attention

Hey I visited a local exhaust shop / garage today and asked the mechanic about muffler delete. He said if i get rid of the rear muffler it will sound like a tractor and cops will green sticker it, which means I will need to put it back to standard muffler and get a noise cert as well which is $250... Bugger.. but I don't want to get a green sticker on my car haha. He quoted me around $280 for a new muffler installed that will make it a little noiser than it is stock. He said it is harder as it is twin pipe exhaust. I am considering either spending my cash on muffler or saving up for after market rims later on in the year. I am only a student so I only have a certain budget :/ But yeah, if i do get the muffler done I will post about it Cheers

Hi, I'm a new owner of E46 320i I really like the sound of the straight 6, and i want it to be a little louder and make it sound more alive. so far from research, i have seen a few people talk about muffler delete and straight piping. Is this legal ? and if so do you need cert for it ? if its not legal, where would i be able to get a muffler to make it sound better ? Thanks guys
