From memory that's the brake pad light, I think there's a sensor to detect if your brake pads are running low...

Check the sensors, these are temperamental at the best of times.

But yes, it definately is the Brake Pad warning light.

I noticed it yesterday, it flickered and then came on full.

still sweet to drive eh?

yeah, sweet as to drive on.

The sensors are in the brake pads, you will see them, as a wire is attached to them and leads away from the brake pad. It maybe a case of just unplugging them and cleaning the contacts (it gets pretty dirty under there).

Cheers

For the system to work properly, you must replace the sensors each time you get new pads.

They are on the front left and right rear calipers.

I have disconnected mine, as I feel it is one feature which is quite useless to an enthusiast. But it might be good if you don't check your car over regularly...

i had a flickering light a little while back...check your brake fluid level....the brake pad wear sensor shouldnt flicker at all....unless your brake pads are just starting to run low, but they are 3 months old so shouldnt be...

rear right side wheel, small black sensor is clipped into your brake pads when you replaced them it may have been damaged or popped out of the clip or as you said loose wire. just ignore it or take the bulb out, your dumb if you cant tell when you pads are worn and just as dumb not to check them. my personal opinion is the pad sensor on e30's was a failure.

on my e36 that ((!)) also comes on when my brakes are fading hard - ie after a hard drive over the rimmutakkas or a long windy road that involves a lot of braking.... it only flashes on and off tho so its all gravy...

Yeah the bulb is gone - easy to replace in e30 - I can't imagine its much harder in e36.

I imagine the stealer will be pretty cheap - they are good with bulbs and crap.

Ollie - thats what I do in the 320 hah.

Ollie - you seem to have forgotten that Killa B drives an E36 - the old "hit it" engineering doesnt usually work with the 36s - personal experience! :D

your bulbs have gone ...real pain in the ass to get to, the heater controls have to come out to get to them.
