  1. this looks nice man.. dont see much wagons in that colour !

Yeah half the reason we brought it, always loved the e30 & e46 wagons and had to have this as soon as i seen it.

We were looking at mazda atenza wags as a family car, this cost alot more but was well worth it looking back

  2. Spotted this parked in town on Friday night looking dam tough! Love it! Wouldn't mind cruising around in it myself!

Cheers Blair, Haha yeah i have to admit, it did look good in town under the street lights, its definately a nice car to own, little bit more luxury than the e30 screamer, not as much fun tho ;)

  3. Looks awesome! Are the flaring tools quite effective? Thought about getting one myself. I just used the handle off my jack the same as yours to give mine an extra tweak haha

yeah they are easy to use and very effective!! Still hard to gauge how far you can push it without f*#n it, but just take your time.

I hope to rent mine out locally so if anyone in Tarankai wants to use it, will be $20 for weekend to rent :)

  4. Well two weeks later (today) my wifes had a gutsfull of the rubbing, and far enough.

So firstly I got some H&R lowering springs to hope to stiffen the rear, turns out it made it even lower haha... opps. front looks sweet tho.

So I invested in a gaurd roller / flaring tool off trademe.

Spent today with the heatgun and the roller working the gaurds out further and further without cracking the paint. I also removed the inner plastic liner and shaved the areas that had been rubbing and removed the inner clip holding the rear bumper to the gaurd, which was cutting the tyre. I have refastend the bumper further in.

Turns out no more rubbing and the car is looking flush, super happy!!

  5. Not long after my last post i attacked the rear gaurds to try roll the internal lip.

Began by cutting out the hard silicon fill with a stanley knife to free it up. tried every tool possible and found the best result was digging it out with a flathead screw driver...!

Cleaned up the dregs with the 'wuzzy wheel' on the drill.

Used panelbeating blocks and hammer and tapped the inner lip up and over against the inside of the gaurd.

I used the flapper disk on the grinder to shave back the inner lip to getanother half millimeter or so.

I also shaved the inner plastic mud gaurd in behind the bumper as this was rubbing too.

Definately made a huge difference, but just exploited rubbing else where with further travel........

  6. I've used a wire brush bit and drill to get the silicone out, then resealed with POR15 after rolling guards on a friends car, did the trick, no rust to speak of since.

Cool cheers for that, i will be doing it in the weekend so will keep you all informed.

  7. Looks tough, just drop the front so even with rear IMO.

I hear ya, it just rubs ever so slightly down the side of the tyre when you corner and bumps etc under speed.

I was planning on stiffening up the rear to reduce the slope, hence springs, and i guess shocks

left it at a panelbeater today and they wont roll my gaurds, what a bunch of tossers!! they dont want to remove the tough silicon inside the lip or the rear gaurd??? they are worried its not factory enough.... so i will attempt this myself with a knife and dremmel etc then lip it myself....

Anyone attempted this on the e46's themselves.... advice....? cheers guys

  8. Agree - looks awesome.

My 325i wagon is on shortened Bilstein shocks with factory motorsport springs - see the photos in my thread.

You'll definitely need to do some rolling/guard pumping in the rear if you're going to lower it.

(Unless you don't really load it up etc)

Thanks for that. so have you just replaced the front shocks with a complete shortend shock that houses the spring etc or is it the removable insert style shock, to be honest i havnt even looked to see how the front really looks. and did you do the rear shock as well to match ( i know that is a seperate spring / shock assembly)

just seems the front is so high compared to the rear (in pic below), just figured my rear shocks and springs were buggered ??

  9. i was just having a look thru your pics and write up again, iv just rebuilt mine into another body (f/l e30) with more upgrades and bit of a different look, not quite so much twins now but close :D

nice to see the finished product even tho things are never realy finished haha.

What was the end hp/kw with the engine rebuild? or was it what was mentioned in previous post?

you end up getting in pc mag?

yeah havnt replaced the head yet which is whats limiting the tune, i have a spare tho. time / $$ will keep it as is for now. Still got 222kw at the wheels tho, lots of fun!!!

you are right tho, it never really gets finished. im hoping for 98% completion by summer, then pc mag hopefully..... if they want it that is?

good to see you still have yours.. sort of :)

  10. Hi, just thought i would update where the old girl is at at the moment.

Its been under wraps for far to long, just over a year actually with no use, so out it comes again to carry on.

I have got some new seats, carbon kevlar autosports which im currently fitting, remounted the microtech, and trying to get the inside a little tidier.

and also fitted the PWR oilcooler.

planning for rear platforms and a few extra twecks to make it look nicer a sit low

  11. We have some new and improved XYZ rear springs for the rear of E30 for the seperate shock / spring setup.

Its a stiffer rate than previously and spring length is only 110mm long.

These offer max lowering and are stiff enough to stop bottoming out.

Can be run in E36 as well. Spring rate is 670 lbs

Sits the E30 rear the same as Sascha picture.

    Evan

Thanks Evan, Cheers for popping into this thread....!!

Can you contact me with a couple of prices for the separate rear spring and strut set up versus the complete coilover one please

    My email is image.electrical@gmail.com or ph/text 021399248

I think the spring rates are looking pretty good paired with my 800lbs in the fronts.

    Cheers.

Oh and yes, the stance on Sascha's car is very nice indead.

Can you also clarify for myself and im sure others on the site if the front struts in these complete kits are replaceable / rebuildable..? cheers

  12. I have attached a pic of the set up for the E36 I have just bought. They are almost the same as the E30 ones I installed.

We replaced the gold alloy top plate on the front to offset the centre by between 10 and 12 mm. If you ask Kane Barrie about doing this he is the man.

What is the reason why u replaced the front top hat. Do they not have camber plates?

No dramas if not as i have custom front camberplates.?

  13. I have just fitted XYZ coil overs to my E30 and fitted XYZ 6 pot brakes as well. The coil overs in the front come with camber plates as part of the strut.......

From the first sprint meeting I class the XYZ brakes as bloody fantastic. I am about to try a softer spring in the rear of my car as it's a little hard. The supplier has sent me the softer springs to try them out. He actually cares about the customer getting satisfaction. Even with the harder springs I have improved my lap time significantly. Kane Barrie gave me the details of the top plate to be made to fit the coil-overs and strengthening to the towers.

Good to hear you are finding them good to deal with. Just from the emails i hav had with the guy,he seems like he is prepared to do anything to help out. He was guna build me just a complete rear platform for me and match the spring ratws to my fronts. But i thnk i will jst go a complete set.

U mentioned strengthening the top hat and struts? Is this in the rear?

Have u run with a complete coilover in the rear or seperate shock and spring?

  14. I am contemplating selling my WRX seats that i have mounted to my factory E30 seat rails so are fully adjustable.

These have been mounted correctly with custom plates welded by a certified engineer (not myself)

These have passed car certification so you will not have a problem if you chose to cert your car.

    Expressions of interest?

    Pics on build thread:

    http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=9897

was thinking $400...... for both of course, with rails.

    These are in mint condition

  15. I have full set of 25mm rear and 22mm front custom aliuminum spacers i had made up for my car before I

went full custom rims. They have studs in them and i have countersunk bolts (hightensile) (so dam expensive to by!!)

I was planning on selling them but jst hadnt got round to it.

  16. Re-size your pics mate 800x600 if im not mistaken?

sorry mate, i just "quote" ed it from APT's old project tread, didnt realise the size, and to be honest couldnt probly reduce it now.

I have 'PM'ed an administrator to unlock my 'uploads' so i can do it all legit. sorry again

The Front Struts can go down another 40mm, Rears can go down another 30mm. At lowest point the car is not really drivable, Sumps on the ground basically.

Thanks for that, its just nice to know there is a bit more lowering in it if you have to, for show / pictures etc

    cheers
