  1. I was off to view this car (Hamilton right?) the weekend after you bought it. Received an email from the owner saying he'd just sold it. Jealous! Glad to see it's gone to a good home though :)

Thanks - yep this is the same car. If its any consolation once I was happy with it I didn't muck around.

Some of the best finds are discovered outside from the daily trawl through TradeMe huh ;) I think its very easy to forget that these days.

  2. Hey Phil,

Congrats man! Well done. A beautiful car.

If you want a set of style 5's, the man who does them better than new (which may conflict with what you want) is a guy called Wolfe who runs a business in Germany selling refurbished wheels.

    Check out wokke.de

A M6 owner from Melbourne that I know got a set from him, and they are unreal.

    REgards.

Thanks mate - wow that is an impressive wheel collection. I'm sitting on the fence a bit over which direction to go with the car with wheel choice. The 3 piece ACS rims are also real nice, and would keep the OEM/Schnitzer theme of the car better perhaps. The current alloys are the 16x7.5 option - so they in themselves are not as common as the 15", so I'm pretty happy to roll with them till I find what I need.

  3. You sound like the ideal owner for such a superb motorcar, baby it my man save it for the future generations.

    That is the idea !!

Crappy weather this week has meant I've been unable to get behind the wheel of it.

Thanks for all the comments - I am on the lookout for some unrestored BBS Style 5's...I am sure I'm not the only one, but if anyone knows of any I'd be keen to know about them.

  4. I have an immaculate reconditioned set of BBS RS033 with polished lip, centrecaps etc etc. They are original 4x100 15x6.5 with (from memory) an offset of 34.

I know its a massive longshot but if there is anyone with any RS's in 5x120, and something around 16x8 who wants some 4x100's get in touch.

Not interested in selling them sorry.

    Cheers !

  5. Hi,

Have been looking for either an E39 M5 or an E30 M3 for the last nine months ( yeah I'm pretty fussy !) The right car presented itself last weekend, and yesterday I entered BMW and S14 ownership.

The car's build date is 10/90, which means it is pretty much one of the last coupes made, it has the 215bhp motor, Euro spec, and a couple of tasty options like a Schnitzer exhaust and suspension, rear headrests, sunblind, cruise control,16" alloys and a beautifull MTech2 interior that I believe was only an option for three months and is quite rare. It has little things that matter to me, the original BMW first aid kit ( untouched) toolbox ( untouched) and a very comprehensive service history from BMW garages in Munich and London and all manuals ( though much is in German). I am the 3rd owner, the gent before me brought it over with him from the UK in 2003, having owned it over there since the late 90's he kept it in a special ventalated garage north of London, and caught a train up to drive it on fine weekends :-) We spent half a day on Wednesday at BMW up on a hoist as everything was inspected with carefull attention paid to any rust being a UK car. A relativly clean bill later, some negioations and I was off to collect my new ride.

Hope you Bimmersports like it. I have been a member for several years, but pretty much admired from affar. This is my first BMW and you will probably start to here more from me as I look for advice during the ownership.

Car is totally original, and the plan is to keep it that way. The only thing possibly on the cards being to tuck the factory BBS's away and look out for some Style 5's.

  6. I drove this car allmost a year ago when it was a private sale in Wellington.

The former owner ended up trading in on an RS4.

Its very nice, and as a bonus has a Tubi exhaust system - these in themselves are not cheap.

Just didn't tick all the boxes for me......8 mths later and I'm still waiting for the right one to come along.

  7. There were only 600 made, how many remain is unknown, finding one and buying one in NZD will work out quite expensive so keep in mind that you will need circa $80,000NZD to find and purchase one that’s in good condition.

    Good luck.

With the weak pound at the moment, now is a pretty good time to import any car from the UK that is hard to get here.

  8. Thanks, good to know that there are a few facelift versions out there. The Archibalds one is the only one I've seen in about the last 6mths of keeping an eye on the market, and I was begining to worry it was the only facelift in the country :-) :-)

Yeah I agree, the Hamilton one is pretty good, I had a quick look over it on the yard, its been for sale for a while now. Also had the chance to buy the blue Tradin Post car privately before the owner traded it, but was put off by the kms ( and non facelift) - the colour actually didn't bother me, I thought it looked quite nice.

  9. and quite a few regard the e34 M5 as the bees knees.....time will tell

I'm looking for an E39 M5 - but I'm fussy - waiting for a facelift one with all the boxes ticked which are even harder to find. I reckon they are great value for money.

The one Archibalds had was nice, but I later learnt that it did have an oil leak. It sold for a lot less than the advertised price. It was bought by the guy who traded in the E34 540IS that has been talked about in here. I've driven the black one with the comfort seats when it was for sale privatly in Wgtn and its an immaculate car, and has a very expensive aftermarket Tubi exhaust system on it that sounds great. The silver one in Hamilton is not bad, bit of wear and tear on the interior, but nothing major. Personally I find the silver a bit boring though.

    The search continues.........
