I always thought FTW stood for F##K The World ... am I wrong?
-
Don't really want to put the standard lenses in for 2 reasons: 1) I spent $110 on the aftermarket lenses 2) A clip on the car broke and the standard lense fell out somewhere between work and home :S
-
car is standard pre chop but have king lows to put in (ive had them for about 2 months but waiting from my brother to get off his ar$e and put wheel on his rotor so I can use the axle stands that its sitting on at the moment). just really dont like the headlights next to the indicators.
-
Morning all, Finally worked out how to post pictures on the forums so yay! As you can see in the photo I have crystal look front indicators. Im not wishing I had gone for smoked or something as its making the headlights incredabily gay and they look out of place. Any one have any ideas about what I could (very cheaply) do to the headlights to improve the overal all look. Thoughts? Cheers guys

Cheers for the chop dude!!! its amazing what you can do with some time and a bit of "snazey" software. What does everyone recon? Lowering is happening reguardless but trying to decide if the bumpers and skirts should be painted black (same colour as the body) rather than leaving them grey...sorry dont have a picture at work of the orginal. Thoughts? (edit) P.S no my paint isnt melting, its still wet as I decided to wash it for the photo shoot.
-
Thanks A guy at work just directed me to a couple of sites where you can download free trail versions of some software he recomends so I'll check that out. Whats wrong with 'snazey" ???
-
The guy giving you $hit on your trademe auction under the Q7A section is a complete munter. Love your retorts too. Nice ride ... im thinking of selling my E36 soon to (similar specs to urs but have polished wheels not chrome and engines only done 100k) so ill be interested to know what you get for it in the end if u dont mind passing it on. Good luck with the sale bud

Hey, I noticed everyone seems to have edit/chopped pictures for the cars. eg like 2 cars chopped from different photos with a different background and some text running through it. How do you do that? Furthermore, what software application do you use? I've been trying to pull it off using microsoft XP paint ... hmmm it looks like sheit. Wanting to put a pic of my old E30 on one side, my current E36 on the other with a dream car in the middle. A somewhat dull topic I know but any help is appreciated.
-
WHACK! hmm after making contact for payment details the guy replies saying "its really worth it" and refused to complete the sale. LMAO nevermind.
-
hmmm i know im an idiot but ... whats an eyelid? are they those black little line things that go alone the stop of the headlight?
-
wow, didnt realise i'd get such a resonse! cheers guys. It seems that it is what I thought. With a bit of clever thinking and playing around I should be able to do it myself. I'll try and get all the bits and bobs this weekend and see what I come up with.

Hey all, To start with, I have no idea what Im talking about so there is no need to take the pi$$, i already know I'm useless as far as this stuff is concerned. The other day I saw a pod filter sitting in the front kit of a 320i. I licked the look. Ive got a 318i and its auto so I know im not really ever going to get anything more out of it proformance wise but I was thinking of doing something similar. Im assuming that there is a hose extension of some kind running from the pod to the engine. Just wandering, is this a special customer built hose or can you do a home handy man job. Are there entire kits that you can get to do this??? All help is always appreciated. cheey

I just checked out ebay. Theres heaps there at vaious prices. I've really got no idea what I'm looking at though and am a little concerned that what I get may not be suitable for my car, may not be legal in NZ or just may simply be rubbish. hmmm I' should really be saving anyhow, after paying for the new engine ... GRRR
-
haha oh really? will be very interested to see how they are before I give the guy half a grand for the E36 set
-
haha yes its yours truley!!! shipping is in NZD apprently. for 30 odd dollars I figured I might as well let them melt all through my breaks. will let you all know how long they last.

SORTED! New engine was dropped in saturday morning. Took 5 hours between 2 mechs and all done! They have done a very tidy job and im stoaked with the outcome to say the least. Cars off to page european in Wellington later in the week to have water pump and cambelt replaced. Total bill thus far has come to $2350. I decided to get water pump, thermostat, plugs, leads etc replaced also. Cars getting a tune up next week after everything is completed and settled down. Thanks again for everyones help on this one. All your help and wisdom is greatly appreciated!!! bub bye for now.

lol I did the same thing, except I took it to an auto sparky for them to charge me $60 and tell me it was an overload switch. talk about embaressing.
-
...whoops, turns out mine had a screw on the bottom outer side. I managed to break the clips before I realised this and had to hack saw the screw off. From what I can make it is a very very poor design as there is no way I can see to get the screw out unless you take the front guard off. For future reference, a '92 318 may have a screw!!!
-
Yeah I thort that was all it was. I gave up after nearly snapping it off. Think they might be quite well sealed in.
-
On this subject ... when removing the front indicators ('92 E36) is it just that clip thing that you need to push out and then it should just slide out? Having huge problems getting them out !
-
The main difference is 4dr and 2 dr. I have standard tail lights from a 92 4 door 318 sedan (lenses only). If you need them let me know and I'll chuck them on trademe.
-
Ive already sorted and paid for the engine, thanks any way though dude. Towies on his way now to take to team european. Mate thats doing it works there so should be easier with the hoist and engine bench ... hopfully she'll be back on the road tomorrow. cheery

Yes, deff a lesson to be learnt here. Somewhat annoying when the previous owner (a sweet old lady) told me the cambelt had been done 15k ago. The blame fulls on me though, I should have double checked and not taken here word for it. Just realised something, the new engine (that I checked out yesterday and looks sweet!) is from a '93 318i, if I can supply a engine number or something can anyone tell me if it has a belt or a chain? Thanks all, enjoy your day, its hump day after all!!!

GUTTED!!!!!! time to start crying. First of all, a big thanks to everyone who offered there wisdom and there advice on this one. Was great to bounce ideas of everyone. Now to the problem ... Were still not 100% sure of whats happened but we believe it was possibly a tennsioner. The cambelt hasnt snapped but it has no teeth either. Something has locked up and the belt was still spinning. The valves are bent and were not sure if anything else is stuffed also. The remedy, picking up another compelte 318i engine from the wreckers later today and will be doing a straight swap no saturday morning. Have a couple of euro mechs helping me (more like they're doing it and i'll make the coffee). So there we have it, im budgeting on 2k all up but it may go a bit over as im wanting to get the cambelt and waterpump replaced also. Something I did find out though, apprently the belts on the 318i (belt not chain) need to be replaced at 45k or every 4 years, which ever comes first!!! A big trick for new players as most would expect it to be closer to 100k or even 120k for an Audi. So there we have it, just the way the cookie crumbles. I'll let you all know how it goes after saturday. Fingers crossed everything runs smoothly, touch wood. Thanks again for all you help. Over and out until the next problem.
