Monster Engineering are doing the cage. Never heard of them, but the pics of the cages they have done before look fairly promising. Have sussed new seats and other goodies that I will chuck up as they go on. Have a pretty sweet bedroom of E30 bits right now Big thanks to Mike @ Synthe (323e30) for the parts and help along the way.

No, I didn't wait for the 3000th post to post this, was just a coincidence. Anyways, about a month ago I was looking for an E30 shell that I could put a motor into and then cage so that I could learn how to drive around the track. After searching for ages for a decent POS for cheap, I found this puppy. It's a SA 325 auto with an LSD, had sweet black motorsport leather, cruise control and a few other lil goodies. Did I mention it has an LSD? I paid under $1k for it and paid $200 to get it here from Wellington. It was de-reged and had been sitting on a couples lawn for 4 years without being driven. Went to the depot in Auckland (Highly recomend Jeff's car transporters) to drive it back to Albany-from Manukau. The guy had warned me the brakes may need bleeding. Well there was no fluid at all and so I drove it back with no brakes. Was fun though. Stopped at the first gassy I could find to put some gas in and check the coolant etc. I couldn't get the bonnet open- a layer of scum had formed around the whole bonnet and glued it shut. A bit of persuasion with the wheel brace revealed this. Had nearly no water in it, f**k all oil, no brake fluid.Topped everything up and drove it home with no major problems-bar having no brakes. Soon as I pulled into the driveway, this happened. Yes,that's right- her water broke. That's really about it. Plans for it are to cage it, put a whole lot of awesome suspension bits onto it, decent brakes, and one day when I get enough coin/knowledge I WILL do an engine conversion. But I wanna do it properly, so will wait till I can find something puuurfect. Basicly, want something to learn how to drive (fast). Anyways, have just finished the manual conversion- well nearly, it still aint starting. Gutted the interior, no pics- we all know what a stripped E30 looks like. Cut the sunroof and the cradle out. Mate is making me lexan sunroof panel, rear window, and rear side windows. Deleted all the sh*t that won't be needed- A/C, Heater and all the associated wiring. And am half way through tidying up the interior. Have got it booked in to get the cage next week and will be ordering parts as cash permits. Will probably be VERY similar to Henry's (Incary) setup. Will post as many pics as I can throughout, but don't own a camera so may be a tad hard. Any feedback would be sweeeeet. Cheers Ashkan

Yep, NOTHHING happens. Doesnt even attempt to crank.
-
Wouldnt be the best bringin it back up later on in the night/the day after...
-
Yep,all earths are connected back up ( the one from starter to block and from sump to chassis).
-
What were you doing in the big smoke Henry
-
You can't handle the truth.

I will give it a roll start tonight to see if I can eliminate the starter. I'm also thinking its the ignition wire that is open from removing the alarm. Anyway of testing without tracing wires? Or anyway DIY diagnostic stuff to try?

Bump Would take tech 1 if it came down to it.

Dont think he was really after beats?
-
Ahh thats right forgot bout him. Think he does real man DJin though.
-
Thats exactly how I've got it. Except that there are nothing connected to the reverse light sensors.
-
I think that Mike mentioned something about that. What relay am I replacing with a paperclip?
-
bought 2 mk3's and have paid them off already from DJing work What mixer did you get? Going to use Traktor or Serato? I'm sure Josh would have some more help for you too.

Some real genius's out there...
-
Yep the fuel pump is working (99%) sure. Also another thing- the check control unit has been removed if that wil affect anything.

The ICV ( I think) is making a buzzing sound. Have connected the inhibitor using This diagram that Laurence gave me. Just found also, the 3 relays that are in the engine bay next to the AFM- there are only 2 currently there, the two outer ones. The centre one is missing. What does this relay do?

Yeah big transformation already bud, good work.

89 E30 325i So have just put the motor and gearbox back together and laurence helped me wire most the car back up.And I have just gone over everything and it all looks fine. Now, it wont turn over.It was running before I did the conversion. The battery is sweet and is getting good power, all lights etc work. I'm thinking I have done the inhibitor switch wrong- the two green wires are joined together and the other ones are just chillin- nothing is hooked up to the reverse sensor if that makes any difference. I have checked the 2 main grounds that I could find- one off the sump and one off the starter motor. Some things that may also be of interest are that there is no exhaust connected to the manifold and the Intake boot is f**ked and held together with 100mph tape. While I was stripping some wires under the dash- heater, aircon etc I found what looked like the control box for an aftermarket alarm system. But when I used to start it before, I never used the alarm/never knew it existed. Any ideas on what it could be? I'm definitly sure it will be something stupid that I have missed somewhere. Cheers Ashkan

^^freakin tuff. Could you not just leave it as a four door and put the m3 gaurds on? Would probably be way easier and look a tad more "factory"?

^^Oh so black graham haha

Sweet, if you are up these ways before then- come rip it out yourself. I just don't have the time atm.
