  1. when you test drive it you'll know straight away whether the gearbox has issues

it will jerk between 1st and 2nd (and if it's real bad then 2nd to 3rd as well)

it might also flair the revs between 1st and 2nd - almost as if it goes to neutral between changes and hangs there for a couple seconds

I've heard some people recommend every 25,000kms for those Jatco boxes and I would agree with that, they need all the help they can get to live longer

check under the engine for any oil leaks

check in the engine bay for any signs of coolant leakage / spray - cooling system is another fail point

just something to keep in mind, I had my auto box fixed under warranty and it cost the insurer a bit over $3000

it then started failing again less than a year later, so I did what I should've done in the first place and got a manual put in, for far less than it would've cost to get the auto repaired again (it was outside warranty by this stage)

at closer inspection it was imported from japan so more than likely have the inferior jatco box,

  2. Hartge 3 Piece ET25 4x100 w/ Hankok Ventus 205/45/16's

Have just been repainted Stahlgrau Metallic, a couple of stone chips on the lip.

I only know of 1 other set with these specs in NZ, so they are very hard to come by.

$1500 Firm takes them. Have added an inspirational pic of what they can look like with bigger lips.

are they 7.5w 16s cos mine are , i have exactly the same wheels

    edit;

face lift pump is located under the rear seat on the drivers side, unscrew and lift black panel,

undo 4 10mm nuts remove the sender first, then twist the whole unit counter clockwise and then carefully lift it out not to snag on the filter sock.

its got 2 pumps cos theres an external one in front of rear passenger wheel , thanks

*pando: added end quote to fix

  5. ^ Cheers guys. Well Kerry I am waiting on my nuts and bolts to arrive, so maybe Monday I can drive it again.

Sadly it won't get a warrant. Pulled the carpet up tonight and removed the sound deadening to find 4x the amount of holes I 'thought' I had. The ones in the firewall on both sides of the car worry me because that is all hard to remove/find the extent of. Bloody E30's haha. Semi tempted to rip all the sound deadening out now that I have started and throw the carpet back in, have to find a power to weight advantage some how  eh Kerry ;)

Bugger. Oh well I guess what doesn't kill you/your car makes you stronger B)

hey just a quick question does the accelerator peddle just slide out to the left or right to remove as mines broken off just above the carpet, cheers shane

  6. hey all , heres some pics of my new daily runabout, 1991 320i abs aircon need it down in central otago,

swapped the 15inch 5 spoke motoform wheels it had on it for my 16 inch hartges, was auto but converted to manual at some stage, has a jasma exaust that needs fitted properly at the rear just a bit to wobbly for my liking

it must have a 4.1? diff in it i think which needs replaced for a medium case, cos 110kph in 5th = 4100rpm, not that economical on open road, got no reverse lights dont think it was wired up when conversion was done some advice here to remedy this would be a big help, for the next wof

had the car two weeks, but yesterday i had to get toed back to cromwell thru the george as i was in qtown and parked up to do some xmas shopping, finished went to car after couple of hours and it wouldnt fire, turns over no prob, tryd some engine start spray in the intake and made a cough and splatter, seems theres no fuel getting to it i took off the fuel hose to the rail turned it over but there was nothing pumping thru and i cant here the fuel pump under left rear passenger side, i think its a fuel pump melfunction, i also put a test light on the fuel relay plugs next to air box they ok,

    any help or advice appreciated

    shane

  7. Nice David Brown. We have one the same with an identical front end loader, except we have upgraded the cable release to hydraulic action. Used it to pull the motor out of my e30 too - works well huh? I was able to use the bucket hydraulics for fine tuning though - probably more than you'd be able to.

Anyone able to tell me a trick to getting it out easily - I struggled to get the fan and sump over the front frame whilst clearing the box in the trans tunnel and the back of the rocker cover against the firewall. Did it in the end, but it was a bitch.

yeah it worked a treat the old Dbrown, took fan off, sump gave me and mate some hassle but just gave it a riggle and hey presto out it comes easier than i thought
