E39 540 MS - Who would deal with this guy...
Fothers replied to hqstu's topic in TradeMe discussions
I know this car pretty well, in fact its' first NZ owner is a BMWCC stalwart and one of the original race series guys. My mate bought if off him. So, the car has been traded and this knob has bought it from the dealer (he most likely works there) and has decided to make some $$ for xmas. Good luck to him. Saying that, the Awesome Sound with crisp sounding speakers that will make you feel awesome just makes we want to buy my mates old car. I ate a pie in this car too and once blew cigarette smoke in the passengers window. -
I know this car particulary well. I wanted to make a couch out of the back seat for the man cave. Here's the Trade me link...

It's a bloody miracle. It has fixed itself. Imagine that, a self repairing car - what will bmw think of next?

My week just gets worse, and now the angle adjuster has stopped. I have searched a few overseas forums to no avail, and was wondering if any other E46ers have had this problem. Unfortunately it is default set to "2", (as in 2 fat bastards in the back seat) so the lights are pointing fairly close to the front of the car!! Any help appreciated - thanks, Rik Update. Having just had my head under the bonnet, I han hear the little "motor" that drives it working but still nothing...

I decided to do an economy test in my E46 328 & with the cruise control on 105, and Frank Sinatra on the CD player, I managed 7.6l/100k on a trip from the Nth Shore to Cambridge and back. That's 37.1 mpg in old terms which I thought was bloody good. Avoided all the plain clothers coppers (Maximi, Camry etc) by Hampton downs too!

This is the E36 vs E46 comparison after having owned the car for 1 monthWhen I sold the E36, it had about 110 ks on it, this one has about 105. It's shitloads tighter, it's quieter althought the E36 had 225/50/16 Goodyear F1's, E46 has 205/55/16 Continentals which would make a difference. You can actually fit sh*t in the boot as the cd stack is hidden instead of being in the way as was the E36 where some moron from BMW installed it. The power delivery is so much smoother (the E36 used to get up & go once on the cam but this is sooooo smooth & sooooo "torquey". The transmission ratios are a little lower which probably helps this given that they are the same engine I like the old man features like the cruise control, memory seats, the controls on the steering wheel, the 6 speakers, the airbag overkill and the fact that it's just that bit bigger inside. It's not black like the E36 which never looked perfectly clean and the alloys are easy to clean. What don't I like. Black leather is hotter than tan. This is my fifth Bimmer & I'm still looking for somewhere to store my water bottle. It seems to use more fuel than the E36, although I don't think I am thrashing it like I used to in the E36. The other piss off is that despite having done the deal thru a BMW dealer, and it having a warranty/service plan for 2 years, this is still not activated and the dealer is telling me to hold off on getting the niggly bits fixed for a while as BMW may sting them for the bill. So what. :banghead: I paid good money for a car that had 6 things wrong with it and only 3 of these have been fixed. I am psyching myself up for a really good bitch to someone about this. I will hold off on saying who it is until I get my new website www.myshitlist.co.nz up & running. They will be 2nd. Overall I am really happy with it despite the last paragraph. I am having my first really good drive Akld to Napier on Friday (5 am departure) so can't wait for that. Fothers

Being the sensible family man I am, I thought I would keep it fairly standard. It takes all of about 1 minute to clean the alloys, so despite the fact that they're a bit fugly I don't really want to change them. First plan is to get BMW to load the warranty/service plan so I can get all the bits and pieces fixed that some moron called "bob" missed when he did the 100 point check. Fothers

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Traded my E36 328 for the E46 328 which by comparison is just exponentially superior that the E36. Quantam Leap even. Sorry about the non artistic photo, this was the one the dealer sent me. And for all you purists out there, please note the distinctive lack of bling. Fothers.

You are indeed correct - my mistake. I should have bloody known, I did after all take the photo.

It's an E30 M3 and scored the top mark on the day. Damn fine car.
