Thank you very much!! I can confirm this worked for a Japanese imported E39 (NOT the diamond key shape key) I tried all the other methods but this one worked first go! Key loses sync with car if changing battery took over 1 minute or unlock button is pressed 1000 times out of range. POINTING AT THE RED CLOWN NOSE DOES HELP. -Andy

Hello, on my E39 I have the older style television with no SATNAV. The knob that is needed to scroll through the menu (eg move from On Board computer to Television) is not working. I have already unplugged the battery for around 10 mins to reset the computer but it still does not work. The screen is the older 4:3 smaller screen. I am talking about the knob right beside the screen. Its not functioning left or right but I could still press down on it. Any helps or suggestions? I want to DIY instead of paying out to BMW people. Hey guys. My rims on my E39 528i are have sustained some damage from curbing. (I didn't curb it, previous owner did ) Does anyone know where is good to fix curb damage? Also how much it would cost per wheel? Any list of places and prices would be much appreciated.
