  1. This page only has 3 pics! Lets make it 4.

2 times LSD. Rear covers will be swapped as shown. Left is what came out, right is what is going in. Right has 1/2 the kays on it. Left will be either rebuilt and take rights place, or sold at some stage. Right has thiner output flanges for some reason. Left looks to be in nicer condition. Right has be sealed with goo. Left laughs at right. Right will do a better drift after 5-7 kilometres of hard touge driving though, so wins. Left senses a diff cooler if it gets rebuilt, Left gets one back on right.

  2. Hmmm, if I think about it dynamicly, it would seem like the oil would heat as usual being pushed out of the crankshaft journals, hitting the bottom of the hot piston, and being sprayed into the head where the heat from the chambers rises to.

The metal all round the coolant galleries would be cold yeah.

This is all estimation but the only way to prove it would be with a whole lotta gauges. Unless you know your info from gauges Graeme?

  3. The white one with the BBSs' is a e39 M5 engine twin turboed, still a monster.

One of my favorites is on e30tech, a guy is putting a tube frame inside a e30 shell. Full custom Gruppe A suspension with supra LSD, and massive massive wheels, big thread but lots of pics.

what do you want to know? i designed and built everything from scratch. i have camber adjustment from 0 to -5 deg, toe adjustment from 3deg in to 3deg out, zero rear bump steer, and a secret castor setting. the rear diff is from a toyota supra(strong and free). my roll center moves from +1" at 4deg body role to +2.5" static. it is slightly higher than the front roll center and my roll moment is a small as possible. i am just getting started on the front suspension because i bought a house this summer and it made me poor and put everything on hold.

  4. Damn Ryan! Close call. Who else gets so wound up by stuff like this?

One of my friends just this weekend got a broken jaw for walking past an alleyway in town, he happened to make eye contact with some waste-of-air who was lurking down there... Totally pointless.

Good to see you are not in a newspaper under a 'Vicious Assualt' headline.

  5. Spent yesterday afternoon in a car workshop where my friend works. Took my struts and another friends e30 and did the ol' switcharoo. He has a 1990 325i SA spec car, leather, full electrics, no ABS, all the bolts on the car had paint on them to show if they had been loosening, coolant tank in weird place, the bigger Mtech 1 steering wheel (there are 2 sizes FYI), and a few other things different from my german built car. Was very interesting to get it up on the lift and have a gannnder.

Anyway we took out his struts, compressed out the springs, removed the shock inserts, swapped over to my shocks and springs (standard motorsport bilstein shocks) and bolted all back together. Did the rear springs and shocks too of course. And he had just bought some 17 inch non-ricer wheels and we fitted those. Car was looking hot, massive guard rub which we fixed with a jack handle. Oh my f**king god facelift e30s have the ugliest rear wheel arches, they must be almost 10cm lower than the front arches!

    :D

So the moral of the story is I have my struts ready for the perch to be ground off and have the GC perch and height adjuster attached.

I'll get pics of his car, forgot to take the camera, durr.

  6. Hmm I did know that, and I'm kicking myself now. Long week.

200-240ish depending on diff and wind conditions. Final Answer.

*Quite intrigued now, when I get my car back on the road I'll head to the track and use some new found physics formula to figure out the top speed exactly.

  7. If you are buying it for a daily driver that you can have some fun with, I'd say the BMW all the way. The merc really is an awesome car, but you'd spend a lot of time changing gears...

The 325i with a couple of handling upgrades can be just as good as an M3 in the hands of a a non-pro-race car driver, lots and lots of available vendors for OEM and aftermarket parts too..

Torque = more fun in this case imo.

  8. Wish there was an update, but the GC stuff is still yet to come and it's been raining solid for days now, filled up a whole 15litre bucket over the last few days, as you can see in this totally artistic shot I took this morning.

Planning to get the sub/arms in and my old front spring perches ground off at some stage. Also reading lots about fibreglassing over panels. Also have to do some watertightening around the tail lights and boot. Also I start too many sentences with also.
