    E46 tyres, R17

i've just been quoted $250 per tyre (inc fitting & balancing) for Toyo T1R tyres.... is this a good deal...? also is this a reasonably quiet tyre..? i was quoted about 750 each for michelin pilot sport 2s so i guess they're out of the question lol.
  2. will either of these mags on trademe fit E46...? (2001 320i sedan). http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=198869823 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=197717364 are they both likely to be genuine...?

    E46 tyres, R17

where are those toyos made..? sounds japanese...?
  4. i need 2 new front tyres for my 320i, 225 45 (i think..) R17. i was using Nankang NS-1s but i'm told they're not made anymore... anyway i found them quite noisy. one of my rears is a roadstone N3000 but 'cause i only have one i can't really judge the noise... i'm after a high-performance tyre that's not too noisy if that's possible... would prefer to keep the budget under 250/tyre. any recommendations would be great btw i work in barrys point road in takapuna so hopefully there's a place there that sells them.

    mystery stalls

just confirmed by jerryC - faulty camshaft sensor, 400 inc labour to replace it, pretty happy with that.
  6. just found a link to these guys: http://www.wheelfixit.co.nz/repairprocess.htm http://www.wheelfixit.co.nz/faqs.htm has anyone used them? their repair process looks solid to me but i'm a noob at this lol...
  7. does anyone have the address of brugers in bpp, i can't find it listed...? also where is WRS located, do they have a website?

    mystery stalls

thanks will do - also i've been noticing over the past 2 months sometimes the car feels as though it has way less power than normal.... could this be related...? the cost of a new camshaft sensor seems to vary hugely on google - anywhere from US$150 to $400 + labour...? yay if that's the issue i wonder what jerryC will hit me for lol.

    mystery stalls

twice in the last week my car has stalled at intersections... electrics still on but the engine is dead. re-ignition fixes it. temperature etc normal and no warning lights, had the car since feb this year (when it had inspection 1) without issue. any ideas? its a 2001 320i 91000Ks.
  10. thanks for the replies guys - Kelston is a bit out of the way, I live in Takapuna so might try the Barrys Pt place when it opens again. if you remember the name of that place that bmw use international that would be cool though
  11. as the subject, anybody know of any *good* wheel refurb places on the Shore? both my left rims are pretty munted lol.... also what should i watch out for or what's the process involved? i think my rims are machine polished type...? at least the outer lip which is the only damaged area...

    tints for E46

I have a 2001 320 in oriental blue, i'm after tints for the car but don't know what's the maximum legal tint ur allowed? I want something not too dark and even tints all around, not darker on the back windows etc. Can anyone recommend someone good on the shore that does this? Can you get different shades of tint, eg. i've seen red, blue and gold tints and they look quite stylie depending on the colour of the car.... but i guess that's a whole other question what tint shade would go best with dark blue
  14. i've got a factory set of E46 indicator lights (taken from my own 2001 320i after upgrading to clears). buy em combined or indivdually... i've put an ad on trademe: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=101516726 but i realise these will be hard to sell so might give a bit of a discount to bimmersport members.

  16. ok - had the new sound system installed for a week now - friggin AWESOME it was quite a mission for the installer but the result was worth it. the DLS component speakers own infinity's arse. the real test is the 'S' sound on vocals, which these speakers can handle clearly but the budget infinity 5010cs couldn't. panasonic 7703 is really cool, heh still figuring it all out, lucky i bought a HU with motorized front 'cause flip-down won't open in the E46 HU adapter they install other than that there are no real things to watch out for with E46 audio installs.
  17. just had Inspection 1 done, its basically mint. turns out it was a faulty oil gauge sensor.
  18. will do thanks for the link heh just realised my car has 5.25" above the back seats, not in the rear doors.... dunno where i got that idea from lol. the issues shouldn't be a problem - i just bought the panasonic 7703 hu which was on special, so now once my speakers arrive will have all custom gear. if the rear 8ohms won't work its a good excuse for me to get some DLS coaxials i'm sure the installer will advise on that anyway.
  19. interesting - thanks for the link. although the author sounds like he knows what he's talking about in terms of electronics, it doesn't really count for much if he thinks the 'stock bmw e46 audio sounds ok at first'..... it doesn't sound anywhere near ok, at any volume. not being a technically mineded person i'm not sure how that article relates to my question (heh wth is a transducer?). i'm not spending much money on my audio install (i picked up my MS5s for 450), and definitely wouldn't buy highend comps just for the rear doors, maybe some DLS coaxials if i found out the factorys weren't going to work for some reason, or if i find out the sound like arse when the rest of the system is in.
  20. just following up this thread - you mentioned i'd have to change the amp if changing the speakers (which won't be a problem), however will i still be able to run the rear door 5.25" speakers from the new head unit? i've pretty much decided on the panasonic 7703 with 70Wx4 digital amp.
  21. hmmm... pretty high Ks for a 2000, thrashed a bit is that leather factory u reckon? if so probably a singapore import (yuk). still it looks really sharp tho.
  22. totally do it dude, i've owned my E46 for only 2 weeks now - the E46 is superior to my old E36 in every way. that one is a 99... so i wouldn't pay too much more than what they have as a starting bid... but obviously you'd have to pre-inspect it b4 you can really call that one
  23. heheh yep i'll be doing a photo shoot once i have the clears installed as well. looks mint in oriental blue with the M3 mags (probably replicas? but still look cool).
  24. ok - i have the aftermarket M3 mirrors painted and installed. a word of warning, they look awesome if painted right, but being taiwanese parts have issues. my right lens wobbles as i drive, its really annoying and i don't know how to fix it... another minor issue with the wiring, when moving them left they go right and vice versa, controls are reversed for some reason... that doesn't bother me at all though, overall the mirrors look cool its just that wobble. goddammit. i will definitely get a clear light kit from BMW and avoid after market parts in future.
  25. thanks - btw just noticed the EML light is also on at ignition (then it goes off) - what does that mean?
