  1. The US had the M5 & 540iS (as did europe).

Canada had the M540 aka the 'Canadian M5'

Which did have a lot of the actual M5 goodies, but they did not get the 3.6 or 3.8 M5's

    IIRC

So what is an nz 540is? and does anyone know what package this particular car has?

have deleted cookies and forum is working nicely

    cheers

  2. you have to do something on you settings, there is a topic in the main forum page that tells you what to do to change the thread.

nope, iS doenst have all m5 stuff, my race car below is a 535iS, you get a slip diff, m5 kit (mine now has a Zender kit) and sports interior and sports suspension (not sure if its excatly the same suspension as m5) and of course manual box, the 540is would have ASC and no slip diff from memory. Also most M5's just had normal wing mirrors, it was the later 3.8's and m5 touring that had the fancy wing mirrors (some one correct me if im wrong).

Oh yeah, I just thought the 540is was a little more special using some of the m5 goodies, this page, and it's links can be a bit confusing but i see now the m540 is the top model, followed by the 540is, then the 540i..

    hmmm

  3. Its a 540iS...not sure what you mean by all the msport options...this has m suspension, kit, seats, head liner...what more is there??. very nice car, was owned or still is owned by Boris

I thought the IS had the m5 kit, brakes, suspension, body kit, wing mirrors etc?? I'm fairly confused about the whole situation

Oh and on a side note how do i bring up the entire thread on the forum, rather than having to click on each reply?

    thanks

  4. Hey all, A friend of mine is interested in this car http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=395546089

Not sure if it's a members car or has been discussed before but what is the deal with it?

I thought the 540is had all the msport options? but this appears to be a rather standard 540i 6 speed..

Can someone shed some light on this, is it a 540is or 540i, or does it not matter, did NZ just get pick n mix models?

    Cheers

  5. Hi guys,

just replaced the front brake hoses on my e34 535i, bled the brakes and topped up the fluid, but now whenever i turn the ignition on the dash display reads "warning low brake fluid" ....it has plenty of brake fluid by the way

have done a quick search and some people seem to turn the ignition to position #2,leave it for 30sec then switch it off and that suposedly resets the warnings... doesn't seem to be working for me.the dash quite often tells me washer fluid is low aswell even when topped up so how do i reset these warnngs?

    thanks

    Rowan

  6. Hey Guys,

Dunno if anyone knows of Motosoc, but its the University of Canterbury Motorsport Society. I am the Car President of this club and run events throughout the year.

Anyway I have an afternoon trackday coming up and want to see if any of you guys/girls are keen to come out. Will be $40-$50 depending on numbers.

I am gonna run it as a skills type session, with Motorkhana and basic skills on the shorter tracks first followed by open pit full track later in the day. Not to say if you have been out it wont be a fun day though. If theres interest I will try suss out a possibility of paying an extra $40 to have a twenty minute session with a race instructer at the end if you want some tips and pointers.

Anyway flick me an email if you are keen,

    dgr49@student.canterbury.ac.nz

  7. hey guys my 535 started running really rough while driving through town the other nite especially under acelleration, sounded like it wasnt running on all cylinders. it got progresively worse and within a couple of minutes was undriveable so pulled over and it died.

i could restart it but it would only rev up to 1500 rpm with my foot flat and would die if it tried to idle.

at the time i wasn't thinking right so didn't think to check the exhaust for steam ie blown headgasket.

i'll start it up and check it out when ive got some time this weekend but what else could/should i look for?

    thanks

  10. cool site, very interesting, wouldn't mind finding out the rego number of an old r31 svd skyline i owned, 1 of 200 made,1 of 2 in nz.i want it back, is there any way to find out the details of cars you have owned?

my old ute seems to have had the odo wound back twice, once wound back 185,000 k's, second time wound back 99,000 k's although that one could be a series of wrong readings.. oresome haha

  11. new owner is in timaru i think..glad it's still in the south island.maybe if i save all my pennies i could afford it by the time it pops up for sale again! at 12k its worth every cent, but too much for me.I dont think the seller liked my offer of 9k hehe. still checking trademe every now and then for a 540i

  12. Can anyone tell me the differences, if any with the M30 block? It dates from the late 70's I think thru to the 90's. Ranges from 2.5 to 3.5 lt, is this achieved with the same block, and just crank and piston changes? Guess what I'd like to know, is it interchangeable from E34, to E32, to E28? My impression at the moment, is that it's the same block, Real oem numbers match. Thanks.

flick Brent a pm, he should know, as far as i'm aware same block, maybe different sump and theres a couple of head variations-compression changes
