  1. Just drive carefully during that first 25 years of rule change.

    Fixed that for you!

The one where you pull Right out of an unsigned side road, as the other cars turns right pulling in off the "main" road: Under the old rules, the car on the main road was supposed to give way - did they EVER? I could have disposed of SO many cars that way!

The majority of NZ drivers think driving is a right, and don't know quite a few of the road rules, or choose to ignore them.

I think this rule change is the right thing to do, so we are the same as practically everywhere else in the world, AND peole mostly tried to ignore the outgoing rule - they'd shoot around the corner before you had a chance to get over the intersection.

Of course, with the Whanagrei City Council roading detartment being a bunch of useless loonies who live in their own little world, the intesections up here will be cocked up for YEARS.

  2. I pretty much always watch, but there is only limited places I let do work. Mostly it's people I know quite well.

If I use someone new, I pretend I know less than I do, and don't comment much - I still decide whether they are good enoughbased on how they do it, and am willing to pay for better work.

I have a WOF guy I trust - He knows me, I know him. Pretty rare he fails anything, because he KNOWS I will fix it. I once had a balljoint on the VW Transporter which he said I would need to do before next WOF, because it does low milage, it's OK for now. When I took it in 6 months later, it had 4 new balljoints, all the rubber bushes, two new shocks, power steering installed, lowering springs and was all painted.

He said he KNEW it would be done overkill when I took it back :-)

  3. for a couple say who both are near or over 100 k a year they have serious spending power.....assuming that they are mortgage free etc.. actually not even mortgage free....

Pfffft! My $800 a fornight mortgage eats up a LOT of income!

People who earn more tend to spend more, have bigger houses etc. If I earnt 25% less, I'd probably "own" a house worth 50% of what I have currently.

(Actually... Mrs is preggers, so our income WILL halve in about 5 months <_< )

If we earnt another $50K a year, I'd have about $30K MORE crap from trademe and eBay! She'd have $20K of holidays!

I do sometimes think about selling up, buying a normal suburban house in an average area and spend that $800 a fortnight on sh*t I don't need B)

  4. Again, Call Paul at Milland.co.nz

I ordered my key from him, precut/coded to my car, a full remote key was about $320 inc GST, and a basic key was about $180 inc GST (from memory - was a few weeks back).

I was quoted by Claytons at $420 and $250 each. (plus I wanted a lock, and they were quoting the wrong part to me)

Mine is 315Mhz radio, so yours might be different though.

  5. BE CAREFUL!

If you say it is a business machine, but you try to claim on personal contents cover, you'll be out of pocket!

Business equipment is VERY unlikely to be covered on your personal cover! If you have specified business tools cover on your personal insurance, the payout will be based on it's depeciated value.

Buy a used HDD and bung in it. Format it and tell them you wiped it for security reasons if it's a personal machine you are claiming for. They aren't paying out for you SSD, and won't replace it with one either,so no loss to them. If they are going to take it with the drive in it, they need to replace it with the same, BUT could still be at depreciated value.

Don't try to be fraudulent either - it's a road to no more insurance! Also, if you're a financial advisor, you may have difficulties with licenses and certification in the future!

They have no right to your data, so worst case is you backup your info and give them the drives(and they pay for them/replace them)

  6. Contact Paul at milland.co.nz. He can get anything, Have found him cheaper than the dealer for everything so far. Have probably spent $3500 there in the last 4 months

I've got an extra key and driver door lock (amongst about 15 other parts) ordered and they were all cheaper than the dealer. Just the key and lock was about $250 cheaper from him.

He's getting me oddball bits like vanos piston bolts etc too.

I know him from elsewhere, but others on here buy from him too.

  7. Equilibrium as "the only sale price" is not true.

    Yes it is.

If you're selling one item, the equilibrium is where your one item meets the price of one buyer. You only have one, so only need one buyer.

There might be 400 potential buyers, but they might think it's worth 1/2 what you want. The equilibrium is where demand and the price meet (proven by the purchase of said item). When you have a buyer willing to pay that price, you have equilibrium.

If you then pulled another of the same item out of your arse, you may not get the same price, as demand has fallen, and all other potential purchasers have a different equilibrium point.

    EVERY sale is an equilibrium.

  8. If you want to PM me the last 7 digits (2 letters 5 numbers) of your chassis number I can tell you if it was fitted originally.

otherwise, go HERE and follow the destructions about OPTIONS and you'll get a full factory list.

You can also look under the rear seat - the build sheet should be tucked in there. It's a dotmatrix printout of the same info.

  9. They're really an emissions thing.

Dads E30 never had one - it's NZ new, and has NO emissions gear on it. The hose coes up from the engine bay, and curls over than finishes!

I would have thought it would have the charcoal cannister - they don't hurt performance, and must be cheap enough!

No reason not to connect it really. Unless it becomes a nightmare

  10. Haha yeah.. Had a cheap $30 table from the warehouse that was a few years old and stuck it on trademe for $1 reserve and it sold for $62.

    Good for you though!

I've been known to buy things online to avoid having to go into shops, and probably paid a bit more... I don't go overboard though!

Those old headlights of mine are 12 years old, have had the coating polished off the polycarbonate, and are $60 more than the Hella ones I did the group buy for. I'm sorta thinking "Tell 'im 'e's dreamin'" except that someone might actually buy them!

A mate of mine paid about $600 for a set of used genuine Xenons, but new xenons are $1800 a pair (complete though!)

  11. Yeah I thik some people just need to lighten up. But owell haters wills be haters.

    Thanks ryan.

They'll probably want to sell something one day. It'll probably cost the earth.

Some people want it both ways...

Sell your car for whatever you like. It'll either sell or i won't.

Either way, what should anyone else care???

  12. Done without Wiki

Does that mean Im a know all or just a piss head

Nah, it means they don't care what sh*t answers you give

    I got mine.

We'll have the market cornered - they'll soon know which one BMW drivers prefer.

Anyway... youCANNOT beat Hoegaarden White! Full stop ;)
