Hello everyone. Yes I have been at it again replacing everything that moves on my E39 540. This time I have a couple of control arms that I miss ordered. The suppliers have offered to take them back. I paid $247.50US for the two + shipping, return shipping is going to cost me $40 but if any one wants them at $200NZ for both you can take them off my hands so long as you are willing to pick up and save me the hassle of shipping. I'll give it one week then I'll ship them back. Let me know it you are interested. - Bimmersporters only, I'm not putting them on Trademe as I'm only willing to take a loss for you guys! Here is a link for the Lemfoerder items. http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch...7424/ES2581203/ NOTE: THESE ARE FOR THE 2001 AND ON MODELS WITH THE TAPERED CONE FIT TO THE WHEEL CARRIER DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! All the best Jason

Umm. You haven't been driving it hard enough? J

Sorry guys all gone. I should have got more. Nice to meet some more of you. I'll let you know if I manage to snaffle any more good deals. All the very best with your cars gents. Jason

Hey Darren No your S62 takes 12 12 9 071 003 NGK BKR6EQUP as well. If it is time to replace your plugs these will work very well. If you want to get fancy you can index them to improve flame kernel development and further reduce technical miss-fires. Do some research to convince your self obviously. The M5board has heaps of info on these and other plugs. These come out on top from people in the know and dyno tests. The impact is slight so don't bother unless you have done at least 40,000 on your existing plugs and are planning to replace them anyway. In which case they are a worth while upgrade. I think I'm getting rid of these cheaper than standard plugs, correct me if I am wrong. 7 4-packs left. HTH Jason

Hi guys. The BKR6EIX is a common upgrade for the BKR6EQUP. I'm using them in my M62 (2000 E39 540i). Anything that uses a BKR6EQUP will benefit from the BKR6EIX Iridiums. Common feed back from people that use them is that they give slightly more low down torque. I would say that I had a noticeably smoother start up and idle. I can say for sure that if you have BKR6EQUPs the Iridiums will work well in your car. They should also last a bit longer.

Selling well on TM for $130 / $65 a box. Still available for bimmersporters at $50 a box. Cheers Jason

Hi guys. I have just fitted Bilsteins to my NZ new E39 540i M-Sport which some of you will know is in rather ridiculously good condition especially as I keep on replacing things that were perfectly OK :/ These are her shocks that have only done 78,000 ks I'm sure they will improve someone's ride. They are the M-Sport II versions that used mostly M5 parts. I am throwing in the front strut top mounts with bearings as I may also have fitted some beautiful Ground Control camber plates so that I can get the front alignment bang on. You may need to get new rear bottom spring pads if you are retrofitting but I doubt it. All bump stops and boots included. $100 first in first served

One bump then off to Trademe. FYI: The factory part number is 11 42 7 512 300. Suits a wide range of 3 and 5 series BMWs including Z and X cars. For a quick reference check out bmwfan's usage for this filter. http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/11427512300/ Be sure to confirm they are right for your car by entering the last 7 characters of your BMW VIN at: http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/ All the best Jason

Hello everyone I got sent the wrong filters for my 540. This is them on Ebay so you can check vehicle compatibility http://www.ebay.com/itm/MANN-FILTER-HU-925...r-/110887079785 THIS IS NOT MY AUCTION! 10 bucks each or $20 for all three, bimmersporters only! I'm at the Metropolis in AK City, save me from having to organise postage and PM me to come and say hello and pick up. All the best Jason

Hello everyone I've scored 4 sets of NGK Iridium BKR6EIX spark plugs especially for our e39 V8 brethren but they are compatible with any BMW that takes the BKR6EQUP (e39s after 7/97) Some of you will know that these come out on top in back to back dyno comparisons but most importantly they last a long time and new plugs can make a big difference especially after 80ks and also help prevent our coils from frying. Remember to put a small amount of high temp anti-seize on the threads (and no where near the electrodes!) They are $100 a set of 8 which is cheap, for bimmersporters only! I'm at the Metropolis in AK City, save me from having to organise postage and PM me to come and say hello and pick up. All the best Jason

Hello Jason H. The HD's cost me 110 landed, same price as the fluid filled bushes. It just depends what ride you are after. I'm not going to promo other retailers here. If you have access to a press, a lathe and some round bar the job is a piece of cake. This is to replace the arm http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160274 To press out the bushes turn up a piece of acetal .5mm smaller than the bushes then use a press or puller to remove them. Make sure the marks are aligned on the arm and the bush when you push them back in. For the V8's 12.5mm proud is a good starting point for getting them centrally positioned in the arm. No offence to you outa townies but I but I sure would appreciate it if someone could pick them up after hours. Cheers Jason

These are new of course. I bought 2 new Lemforder thrust arms which are the best of the OEM control arms for these cars and replaced these bushes with solids. These are the #1 cause of 110kph shimmy and something most 5ers can do with replacing especially on NZ roads. $50 for both is a steal for bimmersporters only. PM me to pick up in Auckland City. I'm a bit time poor at the moment so please save me from having to organize postage. Happy trails Jason PS. I have also replaced all of the engine and trans mounts and the drive shaft flex disk with M5 gear. I'd be happy to get rid of those for cheep as well (including the old thrust arms) They all came off a 65000 k car and are in remarkably good shape.

Hello everyone. I've got 4 pairs for Bimmersporters if anyone is after these. I got 6 because the postage would have been ridiculous for one. They cost $50/pair, retail $140, TYC brand, they seal better than the OEM Mann's and come sealed in a plastic bag unlike the OEM ones which is important for activated carbon filters. Pick up only I'm afraid. I'm in the Viaduct, Auckland City most days during the week, come and see me Just send me a PM and I'll bring them to work. All the best Jason

What is your mobile number Keith. I get "not currently active" ATM

Supposedly a nice upgrade for a 540I M Thanks in advance. Jason

Thanks for all the comments guys. I'm not too worried about cost or mileage. I'll probably end up getting the Michelin PS3 or PSS. Any one had any experience with both that can comment on the noise on our "Cave Man" roads? Also the 540 is weight rated at 94 any advantage / cost to be had with a 99 weight rated tire? Many thanks Jason

Hey Ron. I specified "max performance tires" tires in the title which is commonly understood vernacular. I'm Ok with extreme performance tires as well but not Track / Competition tires or Ultra High Performance tires. Still interested in quietness on our course chip roads comparisons on, for instance; Michelin Pilot Super Sport vs Michelin Pilot Sport 3 vs Continental Contact Sport 5s vs Yokohama ADVAN Sport. They are all grippy enough I just want to know about quietness as I do mostly open road miles. Cheers Jason

Sponsorship = Support and Censorship We will all have different positions on where we stand on this. I personally prefer less restrictions on what can be said. How ever it would be interesting to hear from those in the know how much support and value the sponsors add to the forum. I think that this is a well put expression on one of the costs of Sponsorship. Some better clarity around advertising with some examples would be a positive outcome.

Hello Everyone My current style 66 wheels weigh; 17x8 ET20 10.4 kg / 22.9 lb Front and 17x9 ET26 10.6 kg / 23.3 lb Rear Is there anything available in NZ lighter than the BBS RGR in 19x8.5 5x120. Unfortunately the Wheel weights xml referenced in the Wheels and Tyres Sticky doesn't have hub spacings. With 19x8.5 120x5 wheels, from what I can gather; The BBS RGR is 9.3kg / 20.5lbs The Volk CE28N is 9.0kg / 19.8lbs The Cor Brava Monoblock is 8.8kg / 19.4lbs The HRE C21 is 8.5kg / 18.8lbs The Dronell M10 is 8.4kg / 18.5lbs The Alloy Technic B9 is 8.3kg / 18.4lbs The Champion Motorsport RS98 is 8.2kg / 18.1lbs These are the sourses for the info. http://mechdb.com/index.php/Wheel_weights http://www.flickr.com/photos/victoryroad/s...57628408492577/ Any thoughts on how to get hold of any of these or if there is anything home grown that might even be better? Many thanks Jas
