  2. More to the collection this week

17x8 and 17x9 style 32s, wanted these wheels and waited a while, coincidentally found some in the north island with tyres20200513_165241.thumb.jpg.b77deaa5b9f2d5dba0ec240754d85ebe.jpg

LSD arrived, 3.46 ratio on it, also have a 3.64 medium case for it to go into so will swap the ratios as I think the .64 be too high

Will be coming off the road in a couple months to start the swap. Have a detent tool kit coming from member modz, and will get a kit from FCP to do that while its out

  3. I recently built a 9x7m totalspan myself in the same layout with two rollers on the side. I have 12 LED light battens in it, screwed straight up onto the perlins. Pleanty of powerpoints in it, double plugs, misture of 10amp and 15 amps dotted around the place. 4 over a couple of work benches.

I also brought some smaller scale pallet style racking, only 4-500mm deep instead of the usual stuff which would hang right out. I find alot of height is underutilised in sheds for storage.

I only have 2 workbenches about 1800mm long and a 1600x1600 steel topped weld bench. Do most of my work on the steel bench. Having limited benches means they dont clutter with unnecessary stuff and actually remain as work benches

One other thing i done was a concrete 6m x 5m pad out the front with exterior LED lights, ideal for quick jobs that dont mean moving a car into the shed, you might already have a concrete drive, but for the extra concrete it gets alot of use out there!

Coated the floor in an almost resin product, sprayed the concrete with acid, washed off and then applied the coating. For $200 its well worth it, no oil stains, can wipe up oil after months

  4. Havent done much on the car as recent, even on lockdown the most attention it has had is a wash in the driveway.

Wof is coming up to expire so either need to decide if i keep dailying it for another 6 months or hook into the swap, have a large portion of the swap sitting in the shed,

    -M52b28

    -Manual pedal box

-Brought some stuff of Weitz, quite knowledgeable and had what i was after

    ZF320 box c/w driveshaft half

Lighter single mass flywheel and heavy duty clutch

    5 stud rear end

E36 M3 evo front knuckles- ill order new Lower control arms

    Had some revshift motor mounts

Also have a LSD clutch center sitting in CHCH ready for when freight opens, 3.46 ratio and ill put into a medium e30 case

Pretty boring update sorry, want to get most of the parts here before i stop so i dont run out of work as such, hopefully more exciting update in the coming couple of months, will paint up subframe and diff etc

Looking for suspension next and the lower control arms, that should be 90% of what i need sorted!20200314_144047_resized.thumb.jpg.263ed24717bcb2c4d4ad489fe5a60b04.jpg

  5. Hey team,

Heres my recently acquired E30 coupe in red. Had a pfl E30 325 coupe nearly 8 years ago and recently started looking for another one to build up. Was after a non sunroof coupe and overall tidy as such.

Went slightly north and picked this up

As you can tell its pretty rough on the paint side of things and was also told it has no rust, before I took it away found rust in the boot, will be getting tidied up and full paint when it's all done

Anyway, got it home and put a polishing machine over it, come up alright for the meantime

Next on the agenda was the overheating at traffic lights , but fine on open road, was also told fluids had just been done...water was horrible20191204_194514.thumb.jpg.c88094094eb7b13306f606f6493502d1.jpg

    Thermostat was dry

    20191204_185631.thumb.jpg.9178aec5e295a2bccbcf4e913a7c795a.jpg

Figured it hadnt been bleed so changed thermostat and new coolant, full bleed and bingo no over heating

Next issue, drivers window wasnt working, told it was regulator and given 2 with car. Pulled off door card and was unplugged, plugged in and was noisier than an outboard motor tilting on a stabicraft

Pulled off regulator and put new one one and wouldnt quite fit up, turned out the splines were different. So pulled apart the noisy one and found the ball at the bottom had worn out so swapped the shaft into a good body, and the existing cap (this is important to ensure window goes up on up button, at first I didnt do this and window was doing opposite)

Window all done, will lower it next and daily it for a few months. Have a m52 sitting in the shed for it, and will do a zf box. 5 stud it aswell to open up wheel choices. Slowly building up parts but keeping it on road until everything is ready

  6. Hi Guys,

Currently restoring an E30 coupe facelift to be a road car complete with M52, zf, 5 stud etc. The roof has been creased and the rest of the car is extremely straight,

As per the title im after a coupe E30 roof cut off a non sunroof facelift (i believe the pre facelift are different possibly so want to eliminate the risk). Prefer the roof to be cut at the pillars. Needs to be striaght skin and rust free, id like to keep this car for a long time.

Down in Dunedin but prepared to freight as they arent easy to find

    Any help is appreciated,

    Thanks

    Cam

  7. Hi all,

My e30 starter motor wont disengage when its started and only started doing it one day. Its an auto thats been converted to manual if that makes a difference. I have replaced the starter motor itself, the switch on the back of the key and a relay thats connected to the motor which i attached a photo of.

    ejd8.jpg

The black wire is earth, the blue is onto the tab on the starter motor which is live all the time with the power cable, brown is to another one on the starter motor with sends the power to the solonoid? and green is spliced onto a black with yellow strip wire which must be from a switch?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks!

  8. how about $2500?

well firstly thanks for deleting my thread as i was looking for a car for myself and also my son wants an e30 so thats what gives, good to know you giys really help people that want to get into bmws

How about no thank you, i think its quite a steal at that price, and im sure im not the only one who feels this price is justified for a coupe, thats a manual, with a lsd, thats lowered properly and looks tidy. If you are looking into getting into BMWs you should probally maybe do some research, particulary on market values of these cars instead of making low offers on what i feel is a good price for what you get.

Let me know what you think,

    Cheers

  9. You could try willie down KV Rd for the radiator and old hoses or I'd say Milland will have new hoses, If not ripco or BnT will.

ripco or bnt didnt even have anything for my 325, so a 323 will be even more of a long shot. ill try willie on monday, this is the last part i need in this puzzle

  10. Hi guys,

My E30 has had this problem for a few months and its starting to annoy me so thought someone on here might of encountered it before.

Sometimes my dash indicator on the left side doesnt work. As in i indicate left and the green light doesnt flash but all the indicaotrs are flashing away normally. And if i turn the engine off and turn back on it seems to go again. Sometines it wont happen for a few weeks but the other times itl happen every 2nd time o drive it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
