  1. Yeah true, but want something worth while, however will consider all options.
  2. Hi guys, Putting feelers out there for a e36 touring for my next project. Preferably manual, 1996 onwards with M kit.
  3. Exellent, all booked in for mid next week. The guy sounded clued up and knew what he was talking about which is comforting to know. They can do it while I wait even. 70bux an hour. Cheers.
  4. Does anyone know of a good reputable suspension shop in the Tauranga area? The E39 is already on adjusties and just want to tuck the tops of the tyres in the guards. Had a terrible experience at Mag ang Turbo in Hastings with a trigger happy worker welding a screw driver and a mallet took to the alloy top camber adjustment hats in my Soobie and destroyed them on brand new BC golds. Want to avoid this happening again if at all possible. Suggestion welcome. Too busy and don't have correct tools to do it myself so that why I just want to drop the car off and have a pro do it. Cheers, guys.
  5. Hi guys, About to attempt an amp and speaker upgrade in the missus E39. Basic details are; 2002 E39 525i individual, stereo is non dsp (as far as I can tell, no DSP bottom on head unit). So the plan is to remove factory amp and replace with a brand new Pyle 2000w 4ch that has been in my garage for the last few years from a previous install that never happened. Using existing wiring HU outputs to be connected via RCA plugs that will be attached to feed audio inputs. I will also use factory speaker cabling to power speakers. I have managed to find a wiring diagram from somewhere that shows which wires from the 12pin & 26pin plugs to use incl remote turn on and outputs etc. I will only use the 4 main woofer speaker cables (the other tweeter wires will be left blank) as I will be installing a nice set of Pioneer silk dome 6.5" components and the crossover will be located on the main woofer wire in the doors. Plan is to use 2 sets of the components for front and rear, will have to pull out the jigsaw and some MDF and make up some baffles to replace the factory plastic jobs so that the larger woofers can fit. This is where I need some help/advice from anyone who has done this or knows someone who has. 1- Should I use components in the rear or just use a decent coax and get rid of the rear door tweeter all together? 2- Which tweeter hole in the front should I use, the 1 by the door handle or the 1 in the A pillar? After the new speakers install then 1 will be left blank. 3- I have read bits on balanced vs unbalanced wiring etc, does this affect me or will it be a simple plug and plug job? 4- Any other advice is more than welcome. 5- Hopefully all goes according to plan. Just acquiring all parts needed to do the job so will make a start not this weekend but next weekend. Will takes photos and document and post up after all said and done for those who are keen to upgrade their own E39's. I couldn't find a good how to guide.
  6. Yeah bro, don't know how to throw pics up on here, whats your email and I'll bang some through. It's on adjusties too, make sure you also invest in some adjusties.
  7. We have some of these wheels on the missus' E39, 235/35/19 on the front and 265/30/19 on the rear, staggered fit, they look real nice, stay away from spacers, you shouldn't need them unless you are stancing the car, our wheels are pretty much flush anyways. I have no idea what the offset is but go to a mag wheel retailer and they should be able to help you, if you do get some make sure you don't get the ones with a flat face, get the ones that are almost dished if you know what I mean, don't know what the technical term is for that. I also believe that they were a generic model wheel that BMW offered as an upgrade, but I don't know how correct that is?
  8. Yeah the colour is god aweful and to be honest in my opinion so are the rims. But everything else is exellent. Would be better if it were a hard top coupe, but imagine the noise with the roof down? Straight 6 & super charger screaming in union, would make for a great Sunday drive. The money you would save on doing these mods yourself would be a return on it's own. If there was a failure, just make it better, bigger cams etc etc, the list would go on and you'd end up with an epic car.
  9. Seems like a good deal if you got a spare $39K, I'd personally buy this over any others on TM, seems like good value for money considering others are asking similar prices for standard M3's. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-484568550.htm
  10. Degree in Horticulture, hit me up for all your growing needs. Yes can grow big fat 32 point pineapple express buds from hydroponics 6 week turn around, but mostly Kiwifruit growing nowadays. Also very experienced at drinking beer (specifically Hienken) and taking my clothes off after Jager shots and somtimes pissing the bed.
  11. I have extreme piss drinking skills oh and I can grow plants. Probably skills that aren't very useful to anyone here.
  12. I'll find someone who can find a way around it. Yeah I want to open up to that nice straight 6 sound like yours bud. Like a vaccum cleaner on steriods
  13. Pax is a big doy! He's nearly as big as your cat. It's not his fault he can't see over the window sills in the Hi Lux! Yeah definately a remap is on the cards, also cold air box + pod, where can I get a decent header back exhaust done with quad pipes at the rear that will fit nicely into the rear kit I'm getting? Also, you need to help me stance the car too by the way, the front wheels need to come out a bit, the rears sit nicely in line with the arches, so might have to buy a few spacers and see what looks good and what doesn't.
  14. Tauranga, but Auckland is not too far away.
  15. I am not saying that it is a "boring" car, just a bit of a slouch at times, it is far from boring. Nor am I trying to replicate or replace a turbo Soobie for out right power. The car is a pleasure to drive, and handles like a dream with the adjusties and huge wheels, al I am saying is that it just needs a bit more urgency. Does the missus need to know the plans? Um... No, but that is not the point. The Hi Lux has good for torque but is noisey and inrefined to drive and does not make for a plesant ride on a long road trip (plus the dog gets car sick in it and voimts al over my nice rubber mats). So all I am after is a few mods to liberate a little more power, I'm not after V8 power, nor am I after forced induction, just something to match it's handling ability.
  16. Oh and yes I have done plenty of Google ling but really didn't amount to much, so if also when you make a suggestion can you please include places where I can go in and see them or call them to talk to them about said modifications. Cheers.
  17. So here's the deal, sold my GTB Subaru and am left with a 2008 Toyota Hi Lux (D4D) and a 2002 E39 525i Individual in the garage. The Bimmer is the missus car and lets be honest, good car, just seriously lacking in the "power" department and very dull drive. It's only redeeming features is that it has Koni fully adjustable coilovers and 19" E60 M5 rims covered in tasty 235/35 Toyo T1R on the front and 275/35 Yokohamas on the rear, which makes for a very spirited ride and hanlding, just needs the ooopf to match. Recently got a very substantial pay rise and have an itch to try and get a little/alot more performance out of the 525. Now before anyone suggests to drop a V8 or a 3L into it, I don't really want to go that far. Just after a few things that I can do myself eg; pod and cold air box, header back exhaust that ideally has quad pipes etc. Should I have the VANOS redone as I have heard this can improve things? Also would it be better to get a ECU remap or 1 of those plug and play performance chips, or both? Any and all suggestions are most welcome. Oh and it will be getting a body kit of some description, at this point in time I'm thinking maybe a motorsport as with the adjusties etc I can almost garantee that something will get broken sooner or later.
  18. A good set of adjusties and some 19s will cure that "wafty" ride, it'll turn any luxo barge into a spine jarring work out aye bro? :thumb: to Greg very um... "Sporty" ride in his M3, hey did anyone feel that huge Ant we just drove over?
  19. Make sure you get a year 2000+ model, other wise known as the facelift, they have a better infotainment system and LED tail lights, halo lights and a bit better body kit. Don't worry about getting a "Motorsport" edition, apart from visual asthetics they are the same car. Below are just what I found. Put some big rims and some lowering springs and you are away. Don't be fooled into an older model just because it has some big wheels, rims are fairly cheap nowadays and theres heaps of good trademe online stores with good deals, buy the car for the car and not what it has on it and go from there, you'll thank yourself for buying the newer model in the long run. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-469573209.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-411859582.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-474721399.htm (this is a good buy) Or even better, get this one. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-477685506.htm
  20. Get the best of both worlds, get a E39 540, do yourself a favour and get something 2000 onwards, they, in my opinion look better and come with the big screen. If you look on trade me then there's 5 or 6 nice low km ones on there and best of all they are similarly priced to the smaller engined models. There also a very tasy 2001 E38 740 motorsport on there too. Buy the V8, you won't kick yourself a few months down the track. The missus has a 525 and I've driven a 330, they are both good engines but no where near a good old fashioned V8 power. That's my 2 cents. Even better, by an M3.

    E36 M3

Ok stop before it gets nasty, I would like a silver or a blue M3 BTW. So not copying you. And I'd like an EVO, you can help work on it too. I'm coming down for a week in June, 4th-8th or some sh*t, will you be home? Mind if I stay with you? Or are you never home any more?

    E36 M3

I don't want a banana yellow one, yellow is for steers and queers, which 1 are you?

Anything considered, hit me up. Trade me hasn't really got that many on any more and what is there isn't really what I'm looking for. Rather something ready to go rather than a do up project.
