It may be because you have the 6cyl spring and I have the 4cyl.. Just a theoryMine aren't floaty at all.. compared to what im used to anyway. I find them quite stiff. Your more than welcome to have a spin to see what you think, I MAY be in auckland on the weekend with the car.

I used a vogtland spring in the front as well as the back, ended up using a 4cyl spring at the front to get it that low. And I chose KYB shocks, in my opinion they are pretty good for what I paid!Fortunately granny wasnt in our group Yea bit of an upset, old falcons are like stains in carpet... You cant make em go away and they stick out like dogs bollocks

Heres a few pics that were taken on sunday. Met up with a few of the Hamilton guys and drove out to Horahora and parked up, beautiful weather and good drive back to town through the twisty back roads!! It was my first big drive with the new shocks and springs. Car handles alot better and rides a little bit lower than before. All thanks to Keith at H&R, big cheers go to Keith for awesome service!

Hey Jeddy! Buddy old pal.. I may have genuine tech1 side skirts in white for sale (these will fit a pref/l) Interested???

I like the idea of those shocks, how much are they worth? I want to go at least 50mm lower. Does cobra do a 50-60mm spring? Sounds expensive! How much if you dont mind me asking? May have to come and see your car and go for a ride so I know what its like. Cheers for the comments guys

Hey guys, Im lookin at doing some suspension work on my 1988 325i Touring and I need some advice. I want to lower it and make it alot stiffer, it has quite alot of body roll at the moment and is a bit boat-like. It has motorsport springs in the back, but I dont know what is in the front. Is the suspension the same in the tourings as it is in the sedans? Coilovers VS Lowering springs and new shocks, which is better, how hard is it to do coilovers and how much more do they cost. Is it better to compress standard springs or get new springs? Which brand does a good spring? How much am I lookin at roughly? Any other suggestions would be good! Cheers, Jason

Heeyyy there he is, good to see you on here man -
NIIICE E36 Ryan! Didnt take you long to find a new one. Your E30 is in good hands and may even have some new wheels soon!

My flatmate bought it, his first BMW! He isnt actually on BS at the moment but will be probably be joining. I love our garage now! 2 E30s FTW!!!

Thanks everyone, I understand now! Ive come to the conclusion that I wont be having HIDs! Ive tried the bulbs with filaments that claim to be the same as HID. They were CRAP, yes they had a whitey blue colour but they put out absolutely no light, they were useless.
-
Ok so I'm a complete n00b when it comes to HID lights. All I know is that I want that bluey/white colour in my headlights! So I'm really hoping someone will be able to help me out here. What is the difference between HID and normal bulbs? Why is it bad to run HID bulbs in normal headlights? What does it take to convert normal headlights to HID headlights? Ive seen the HID conversion kits on trademe, is that all you need? Will these kits work with the normal headlight lenses? Are the trademe kits any good? Aside from the different colour do HIDs have any advantage on normal bulbs? Is it really worth doing the conversion? Oh, these are for a facelift E30 if that makes any difference. Thanks people!

Thanks Grant, thats the sort of comment I'm after!!!

Poor wee things.. Im absolutely stoked with the way it looks on these wheels, wouldnt have it any other way. But dont worry the wheels are the only non-pure thing I will be doing to this car, I still want it to be a BMW not a H***A!!!!
-
I take it your a purist then?
-
Thanks for that, I'm glad you like the wheels! I was hoping I would get that reaction from people instead of the "oh no put your weaves back on youve killed it"
-
Your right bravo, motorsport springs in the back. But I dont think thats the case in the front, its a bit lower at that end and the springs are very soft compared to the back.
-
Thanks for all the comments guys! I will definitely look after this car and keep it as well presented as the previous owner has done.
-
Will and I were actually talking about you when I was up there when I got the car. Sounds like you have a very nice car.I agree, Will has created a very nice car - all it needs now is my own personal touches. Id beleive that, it goes sideways quite happily, although havnt done this with the new 18's on it. The rubber is a bit to expensive to be burning! Alisons new E36 is a very nice car, she seemed very pleased with it. Thanks for your comments

Yea imported from the UK in 1994.Id love to have a chat about what I can do with sounds, I'll keep you in mind! I emailed Keith a while ago but got no reply. Will try again another time! I need to get it lowered and stiffened up!
